Should the winner of the Highlands-CovCath game...

... be ranked first in the BGP 3A poll at the end of the regular season, assuming neither loses this week (which is a very safe assumption), or should Bowling Green own the top spot until they get beat??? What does everyone think?

I think unless Bowling Green loses or they have a really bad showing they should stay in the #1 spot. I just think it would be unfair if they fell without losing or having a really bad game.

Bowling Green is #1 until they are beat.

Even as a Highlands fan, we have no reasonable explaination to be ranked above Bowling Green, at this point or even towards the end of the season. Bowling Green has been pretty strong all along and has a much better record.

I agree...A 1 loss team with quality wins(W.Central,Christian Co,WEast) and a close loss to another quality opponent(St X) should be enough for them to hold onto the #1 slot...

Another question...Should the loser of the Cov Cath/Highlands game drop in the poll? This would give either 4 losses I believe with teams such as Central, Lex Catholic, Johnson Central, etc with only 1 or 0 losses...

I am a huge JC fan and supporter... but even I don't think JC should be ranked above the big 3 (Highlands, CovCath, BG). As for the other schools mentioned I don't know very much about them so I can't speculate on those teams.

With that being said I think there are 3 teams that is head and shoulders above the rest of the field... Highlands, CovCath, BG.

I would think that the only way either one would move up to #1, would be if either one blew out the other in the game on the 27. Since I don't think that will happen, I think BG will stay on top, and as long as the loser keeps the score close, I too don't think either CovCath or the Team from Ft. Thomas should drop down in the polls.... Both have played a very tough schedule, and this one game shouldn't drop either out of the spot they are in the rankings.

As long BG keeps on winning, they should stay on top in 3A. But I you what, the game between Highlands and Covington Cath. should be a great one to watch.

Always is, Always shall be, and Highlands will always be on top.

I'm going to venture to say that the majority of us on here have not seen all of the teams that could be considered for #1.

I'd argue that win-loss records mean nothing. The fact that CCH and HHS have 2 or 3 losses by itself in no way means they are worse than an undefeated or a one-loss team.

Is BG #1? No clue.

BG is #1 in the BGP rankings on the main page. With Highlands and Cov Cath behind.

How important is a ranking? The real deal is the winner at the end, rankings don't tell you that? Just like other things, everybody's got one......

Every year Highlands and CovCath play very difficult schedules against out of state competition and lose. This year is no different. The two schools also seem to play for the NKY championship every year which is more meaningful as far as determining their respective place in the state rankings. Ranking the loser of the game in the top five would be a stretch for me since there are other regions with more than one good team. BG seems a clearcut leader in the West, Central Ky has LexCath, Franklin County and East Jessamine. EKY has JC, and Bell and there are several good teams in Louisville. I get tired of hearing how good Highlands and CCH are each year but they have backed it up in the playoffs. I would put the loser of their game somewhere in the second five of the top ten. The winner would be my number one, than BG, followed by JC, LexCath, and Central in no particular order.

My, my, my how things change in the span of a year.
