Should the winner of the Highlands-CovCath game...

I agree that it should be considered but it is not a huge factor. I have no argument with current rankings but once you lose inside your own class then you cannot ignore those losses IMO.

2. HHS

3. CCH

The Top 3 are clearly the best of 3A and by a WIDE margin. So if HHS were to lose to CCH, the drop should be from #2 to #3, not below the current # 6 team.

I was speaking in context of this seasons rankings. Yes I agree championships mean alot and everyone cherishes them.

Yes, in context of the current season rankings, past championships do mean a lot--or are, at least, a factor.

I guess it is clear through rose colored glasses.

I would agree that HHS has a better argument to stay above those three than CCH does. I also agree that neither team should fall below all three of those teams but there is a valid argument that they should at least drop to a 4 or 5 spot if they lose.

Untested does not make you a bad team.
It also doesn't make you a good team. In that situation, one of the few things to base a ranking on is past reputation.

My point is they are a factor larger than the teams that don't have them will admit but they are also a factor smaller than the teams that have them want to admit. The question is just where is the middle ground? BTW this is a rhetorical question for those who feel compelled to answer.:D

I agree that it is a factor but somewhere in a current season you have to start basing rankings on current records and activity and I believe that if you take the names out of this that most people would agree that if a 2 or 3 loses to another team in the same class or lower that the 4 and 5 have a valid argument that they should move up in the polls. I am a Rocket fan so my team is not involved in this debate in any way.

No, I think it's pretty much clear through my blue glasses too:D

My argument is very valid. Untested does not make you a bad team. Would the undefeated Miami Dolphins have been a bad team if they had of played college teams or would the undefeated Indiana basketball team been a bad team if they had of played an all division 3 schedule. No. The teams would have still been great but they would not of had a valid test to determine just how great they were.

Let me ask you this. If you're untested, how do you know if you're a good team?

To answer your question, no they wouldn't be great. They would just be undefeated teams...

I agree it depends largely on who you are undefeated by! HHS and CCH play tough GCL teams to make the teams better. The teams don't always win but are competitive and learn a lot in the process. We could choose not to play these teams and be undefeated through the season.

I think that very reason is why that state playoffs and championship were invented. That is, to compare undefeated against po dunk U to playing competion. Im sorry, lets call it what it is. There are three excellent teams in AAA this year. There is separation from the rest of the field. Maybe I am biased, but I do believe the real state championship will be played in NKY this year for AAA.:thumb:

I live in campbell county now but grew up in "po dunk U" as you call it. Just because people don't agree with the people in NKY doesn't make their opinion any less valid. IMO you need to keep your comments like "po dunk U" to yourself.

I agree. I would add that there are many opinions in NKY, and not all of them consider the likes of Rockcastle and company to be Podunk.

The only thing the game between CCH and HHS decides on the 27th is where the two of them will hook up on the 10th (or 11th) of November.

I like Po Dunk U, people there are very nice and friendly.

We can debate until we're all BLUE in the face. Fact is the past 20 yrs the NKY region rules the roost. Look how long it to LexCath to get over the hump and finally win a title. They went 10-0 a bunch of regular seasons in a row, but come playoff time, 1 and done.

Thanks Colonel-Fan. I have a lot of respect for the programs here in NKY and I have stated that many times. I also know that many people up here have the same opinion that you do unfortunately many do not. Fortunately I grew a very thick skin many years ago.:D
