To be the best, you have to play the best. A team might as well prepare themselves (win or lose) to play the best teams by play the best competition possible. Too many schools are too worried about winning games that they only schedule teams they can beat. That is why a team with a lot of wins gets beat come playoff time.

Won't they have to play Lexington Catholic or Boyle County in the 3rd Round?
-
Who will be the best in the west next year?
-
Juniors don't win Mr. Football. He will (more than likely) be one of the top candidates next year.
-
With no disrespect to Ryle because they earned the right to play for a state championship last night, but (after watching them play) they are not a top team. In years past, this would have been a second round match-up, but Ryle benefitted from the new format.

Matchups fans would like to see
In the Game replied to Diogenes's topic in KY Football (High School)
I heard that Lex Cath is still looking for a game or two. Maybe Mercer should contact them and schedule a game. Won't Mercer be 5A next year and Catholic will only be 4A. -
You are correct. If that was the case, then Justin Burke would have won it last year. Maybe it depends on what college you choose?
-
I think you need to add Ben Revere to that list. He is the best player in Lexington, and ranks up there in the state. I think Beaumont from Male will win it!

3A Championship: Covington Catholic vs Bowling Green
In the Game replied to stick1's topic in KY Football (High School)
Lexington Catholic won with defense last year and CovCath has a very good defense. I thought all along that the winner of the Lexington Catholic-CovCath would win it all. I am going with CovCath because of their defense and who they beat to get there. -

By moving the games to Friday and competing with high school football, how much will that hurt the attendence? -
Field conditions after last weeks mud bowls?
In the Game replied to cardinalsvoice's topic in KY Football (High School)
With the rain yesterday and today, will the fields have enough time to dry out by Friday or will it be another Friday Night Mud Bowl. Also, do teams get in good practices with all the rain? Do they go in the gym or practice in the mud? -
Who has the toughest playoff schecdule in 3A year?

3A is tough! It will be a fun playoffs! -
Who will Lincoln play in region?
In the Game replied to patriotj's topic in KY Football (High School)
Lincoln better worry about the first two playoff games before they worry about the region championship. -
CovCath played LexCath better than anyone last year. It came down to the end. We will find out in 3 weeks if Johnson Central is for real. They should have two easy first round games and then they get to play some good competition. I agree, the 3rd round will not be an easy game for Central.

This will be worst next year when team that finish the season 0 - 10 make the playoffs! -
East Jessamine vs Franklin Co.
In the Game replied to EJHS Fan #98's topic in KY Football (High School)
What else does East have in their arsenal that would not have showed during the first game? -
Wasn't Woodford County winning when the game was delayed for a couple days?

Scott County VS Henry Clay Predictions
In the Game replied to HardcoreCard20's topic in KY Football (High School)
This is a hard one to pick. Didn't Scott County lose both district games in overtime? It should be one of the better first round match-ups! -
East Jessamine vs Franklin Co.
In the Game replied to EJHS Fan #98's topic in KY Football (High School)
Which team has the advantage on a muddy field? Franklin seems to have problems scoring when the field conditions are not great. Just an observation. -
Correct me if I am wrong, but next year there may be teams that finish 0 - 10 and still make the playoffs.
-
Franklin County at East Jessamine will be one of the best first round match-ups.

LCA versus Fairview - 10/27/2006
In the Game replied to EagleEye's topic in KY Football (High School)
Lexington Catholic invited LCA to play a home and home series, but LCA declined to play. -
Sphire, as well as the Lexington Catholic Football Program, had nothing to do with the sanctions against the school.

I think this thread concerns youth football programs. Most successful programs have good youth programs. I would think the head coach would want a good youth program, if only to make his varsity program better (at a later date ofcourse). I know Lexington Catholic starts their youth programs early with kids playing flag, then at around grade 5 they play 8 man tackle and then on to the middle school team.
