In the Game

Didn't CovCath put up a lot of points against both JC and BG? As far as the St. X. game, people must remember that it was LexCath's first game of the year with a new QB and offense and a new staff still feeling it's way through a game. Plus, St. X. had already played a game. I have always heard that a team will make it greatest improvement from game 1 to game 2. St. X always does this. As far as LexCath being better than BG and JC I guess we will never know, but I don't think either team could have stopped LexCath's offense!

LexCath did not play Corbin this past season. I believe you are referring to LCA or Lexington Christian. LexCath would bring a hugh following.

I am with you raiderbird! No Shane Israel from Lexington Catholic. He is one of the best backs in the state and has done it against good competition.

The could play in the Bluegrass Bowl again. I hear there is an opening there.

LexCath would have scored more points on Highlands last year, but played very conservative because Burke hurt his knee early in the game. Highlands could not move the ball on LexCath, so Sphire did not feel threatened.

Ryle should be proud of what they accomplished this season, but they are not the #2 team in the state. Heck, they are not the #2 team in NKY. They are the state runner up thanks to the KHSAA putting all the top teams in the same bracket.

There are still 5 rounds, but according to the KHSAA website, district 5 plays district 8 and district 6 plays district 7 in the 3rd round. That would pit LexCath or Boyle County against Rockcastle or Bell

To be the best, you have to play the best. A team might as well prepare themselves (win or lose) to play the best teams by play the best competition possible. Too many schools are too worried about winning games that they only schedule teams they can beat. That is why a team with a lot of wins gets beat come playoff time.

With no disrespect to Ryle because they earned the right to play for a state championship last night, but (after watching them play) they are not a top team. In years past, this would have been a second round match-up, but Ryle benefitted from the new format.

I heard that Lex Cath is still looking for a game or two. Maybe Mercer should contact them and schedule a game. Won't Mercer be 5A next year and Catholic will only be 4A.

You are correct. If that was the case, then Justin Burke would have won it last year. Maybe it depends on what college you choose?

I think you need to add Ben Revere to that list. He is the best player in Lexington, and ranks up there in the state. I think Beaumont from Male will win it!

Lexington Catholic won with defense last year and CovCath has a very good defense. I thought all along that the winner of the Lexington Catholic-CovCath would win it all. I am going with CovCath because of their defense and who they beat to get there.

By moving the games to Friday and competing with high school football, how much will that hurt the attendence?

With the rain yesterday and today, will the fields have enough time to dry out by Friday or will it be another Friday Night Mud Bowl. Also, do teams get in good practices with all the rain? Do they go in the gym or practice in the mud?

3A is tough! It will be a fun playoffs!

Lincoln better worry about the first two playoff games before they worry about the region championship.
