  1. Excuse me for asking but what did he do in the first half that had Corbin up 16-7 at the half? It seems to me that Corbin couldn't capitalize when they had the chance. No one player won or lost the game for Corbin they lost this game as a team. No excuses here NCC was better team on this night.
  2. I'm surprised that Dudley is not playing this game on Thanksgiving night like he did to Highlands a few years back. Dudley uses any thing he can to get a edge and you can't blame him, it all about w's for him. Bell co 28 LC 24
  3. Can Any NCC fans on here that can tell me where Frank Jacobs and Nick Sandfoss are, they played on the NCC team that came to Corbin in 86 and beat them. From what i remember Frank Jacobs was a man among boys and Nick Sandfoss had speed to burn. Do any of the 07 NCC players have speed comparable to Sandfoss. I'm looking forward to the trip north and hope that the game will be as good as advertised. GO Hounds!!!!!:walk:
  4. Dudley will have them mountain boys ready for the road this year!

  6. Your comment about bringing shame to the Corbin team and Community is so far out in left field that it is almost down right hiliarious. Not playing Bell Co. will not make or brake this team or community. I think you need to keep things in perspective when talking about the rich tradition of Corbin Football. Corbin was fine before playing Bell Co. and they will be fine not playing Bell Co. To say that Coach Jewell has brought shame upon a community and HIS Team by not playing Bell Co. is again RIGHT DOWN HILIAIROUS. I think that you need to relax a little and enjoy life a little more and not take this stuff so serious. Your comment about Corbin dominating Southeast Kentucky football is a pipe dream, times have changed and so do the expectations of the Corbin FANATICS need to. Kids these days are not the same as they were back in the 70's and 80's when Corbin was dominate, not to mention that on most every Corbin State Championship team you had kids that were from the Tri County Area not just Corbin. This is in no way a dig at Corbin for having those kids from other schools playing for them, but I believe the success that Corbin was having in the 70's and 80's was a big reason that alot of those kids came and played for the Corbin Program. Also you have what I call the Billy Hicks effect on this community, he came here and turned this community from a Football community to also a Basketball community. With all that said this is Coach Jewells team and the reasons for him dropping Bell Co. from the schedule is HIS decision. The reasons behind it are alot deeper than you know.
  7. Belfry 35 Russell 21
  8. I think the final score was a good indication of how close these two teams were matched. The difference in this game was Russell's experience against Corbin's youth. How can you question the play calling of Ivan (the great) it looked to me that he knew exactly what he was doing. I believe Russell has a few more weapons than just Kasey (Look at me) Clark, don't know the Clark kid and this was the first time I seeen him play but you only get one chance to make a first impression and listening to the Corbin fans they were not overly impressed by Clark, it seems that he is more about himself than his team. I was very impressed by the QB he was very hard to tackle for the Corbin players. It was great to see that they are other communities out there that take pride in there F-Ball Programs. Cudos to the Russell fans you are a classy bunch. Go Red Devils! Defend The R! Bring it back to Flatwoods!
  9. If you want to compare records make sure you are compairing apples to apples when it comes to the competition that the teams are competing against. If GC, WC, or CC played the Redhounds schedule over the last four years they would have alot fewer victiories than what you show.
  10. I agree that Josh Sanders runs with alot of heart and grit but Nick Cobb was a whole lot better back than him. If not for the injuries Nick would have been a very special back. Nick Cobb was a natural a runner as there has been at Corbin, he could see things that alot of backs couldn't.
  11. Hounds started out of the gate fast but then kinda feel into a funk. I felt like they should have beaten LCA by at least 4 td's but couldn't take advantage of turnovers. Cashen therw ball alot better tonight because he had more time to throw, Maden looked good in the passing game. Sanders carried the ball 20 -25 times tonight. Young team that will get better as season progress. Tough games ahead with Bell and middlesboro next two weeks need to at least split with them.
  12. South Laurels 3 game win streak ends this year. Corbin 35 SL 21
  13. There is a lot of truth on all these post but the facts are this, most of us on this thread are die hard Redhound fans and hate to see them struggling. The Hounds have struggled the last two years early in the year and IMO it is becaues of the level of competion that they faced and this helps them in their weak district and in the playoffs. What's great about Corbin football is the passion that we fans have for the program. If you think about it the last two years if not for Blackwood getting injured in last years Desales game and Issac Mills getting hurt the year before in the Playoff game in '04 they very well could been on the carpet both years so to say that something is not right is just not true. Maybe we need to look at the all the years that Jewell has been with the Hounds and see that he was Runner-up to Breathitt in 2002 who I would have put up against anybody that year, been a semi finalist two other times, and never been beaten in the first round of the playoffs. I can only think of two other coaches in the area that can match that and they are pretty good coaches in their own right (Dudley & Larkey)
  14. Cashen is a junior but he is a 3 year starter at QB for the hounds and missed the first have of the season last year and came back with a very successful second half of the season. I don't think it has anything to do with a lack of confidence in his recievers or rust. It is early in the season and most teams are still getting a feel each other at all positions, in given time the Hounds offense will be fine.
  15. :fight: My question is this how is Rockcastle the consenus #1 team in the mountains and several people are saying that Corbin is to high or shouldn't even be rated, after all didn't the Hounds play Rock to a 2-0 barn burner last week. :creepy: IMO it should be Belfry as the #1 team in the mountains and take your pick with the other 9 teams. I think Rock is very over rated, they have a QB that IMO is very sub-par and the only play that they could run against Corbin was the fullback trap. They have no team speed, just big and slow mountain boys.:fight:
  16. I thought Corbin's D-line held up pretty well against a far bigger and stronger line from Rock. I don't see how you can say they won the trenches. Corbin also had a TD called back on a punt return so those two equal each other out. As for Rock dominating the game, if you call starting their two best drives inside the opponets 40 yard line and then Corbin holding them out of the endzone on goal line stands dominating I don't see it. Rock has no chance to win a State Championship with their QB. He doesn't throw the ball well enough to be able to sustain drives. If Rock couldn't run the ball at will against Corbin's overmatched line then it is hard for me to believe that come playoff time they will be able to man handle far better teams than Corbin.
  17. I thought the play calling was not at it's best tonight for the Redhounds, it is hard for me to believe that the Redhounds game plan was to run it up the middle against a bigger and stronger front line of Rockcastle. When you run it on 1st and 2nd down and then throw it on 3rd down, it's not real hard for the opposing team to figure out what you are doing. All week long we heard how Rockcastle was going to blow out the Redhounds with this being their best team in years and some predicting them to win 3A state championship. If this is their best team in years it looks as if the Redhounds will have a very successful run at a 2A state championship if they can get their offensive woes lined out.

  20. I know one coach to the south that is glad to see Jep leaving, won 3 straight against him.
  21. It's a great thing to see when you have an administration and community that support its athletic programs, it can make a world of difference for a student athlete. I know the Panthers are in great hands with Coach J.
