To be honest though, Oldham Co. was a better team than Corbin and the Hounds may not face anyone the rest of the season who is much, if any better than Oldham. Does anyone know why Josh Sanders, who played extememly well the first half, did not play after halftime?
DADDY CAT Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Our local teams are'nt doing so well out of the gate. Corbin, Lynn Camp, SL, NL are all 0-2. Offenses not showing up for any of them. I had heard that Oldham was tough.
WILDMAN Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I must say that even though OC put up 34 points, I was still impressed with the Corbin D. If they can eliminate the big play, they are hard to move the ball on. I also liked the way they turned OC over about 6 times and 4 of which were ints. It's all about fixing the little kinks and we will see a fine tuned machine. The Corbin offense seemed to have the right idea (throwing) out of the gate but it's hard to do, when the OL wasn't doing their job with giving Cashen the time he needed. As I said, with the D, once the little kinks get worked out, Corbin will be dangerous. Another thing that needs to be worked on is the ball protection. Oldham is a fine team and that should be expected out of a bigger city 4A school. However, I really couldn't tell if their was seperation between who was better and who was not. It was hard to get a read on either team because both offenses turned the ball over A LOT. At least in both of these teams defense, it's still early in the season and it's much better that these things are happening right now, so they can get things turned around for when it counts. Next week look for Corbin to come out with a fire against South Laurel. Both teams will be looking for win #1 but Corbin will/should not let this rivalry be 4 wins in a row for SL.

TRUE REDHOUND Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Corbin will be fine. Anytime you let a 4A team play aroind with you until the fourth quarter you are in trouble being a 2A team. They can go 3and 4 deep while you can only go 1 or 2. This team in my opinion was a much better team offensivley than rockcastle, rock didn't have the athletes and the speed that oldham has. Corbin needs to follow defensive and offensive assignments better which will be corrected this week. The ball carrying must be improved, HAVE TO PROTECT it. On special teams we will get better this week about not slowing down in traffic. All in all besides the score i saw alot of bright spots. Michael Campbel could be possibly the best blocking back i have ever seen he really lets the linebackers know they have been hit. All i mentioned will be corrected this week, you will see a much crisper, sharper, and more physical team this friday.

I think you are probably right, and I am glad to see that you are not on Jewell, about this time every year, lots of "fans" get on him.
Hound 56 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 The interception that Josh Martin had was pretty good and does anyone know anything about that cheerleader getting hurt

No reason to get onto Jewell the kids play the game. Im sure if he could he would get out there on the field and do it. He is the best man for this program. He knows Corbin football as well and anyone in Corbin and what it means to this town.
LC99 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Corbin's Oline was not very good for Corbin, which is usually one of their keys every year. Even the first td Corbin scored, if it wasn't for a great individual play by Cashen or it would have been sack #7 for Oldham. Oldham played great in the redzone and off of turnovers. The Qb for Oldham is not too bad when he took his time, it may have been nerves early with 3 ints in the first quarter and two or three overthrows to wide open receivers that could have went for big plays. He settled down and played well after the first. This is the first I have seen the Hounds in pads this years, and that is most kids I have seen out for a Corbin team in years. They should have a solid year despite the loss. Middlesboro and Bell should be barn burners and if South gets their offense going next week that could be too, but Corbin should still be about 3 tds better imo.
TRUE REDHOUND Posted August 28, 2006 Posted August 28, 2006 Your half right about the line not giving him enough time to get rid of the ball. About half of the time he had time to get rid of it and for some reason didnt. Maybe it was becasue he had been hit so many times early in the game b/c of less that par protection. Either way it has to be improved on this week. Corbin's Oline was not very good for Corbin, which is usually one of their keys every year.
