There is a lot of truth on all these post but the facts are this, most of us on this thread are die hard Redhound fans and hate to see them struggling. The Hounds have struggled the last two years early in the year and IMO it is becaues of the level of competion that they faced and this helps them in their weak district and in the playoffs. What's great about Corbin football is the passion that we fans have for the program. If you think about it the last two years if not for Blackwood getting injured in last years Desales game and Issac Mills getting hurt the year before in the Playoff game in '04 they very well could been on the carpet both years so to say that something is not right is just not true. Maybe we need to look at the all the years that Jewell has been with the Hounds and see that he was Runner-up to Breathitt in 2002 who I would have put up against anybody that year, been a semi finalist two other times, and never been beaten in the first round of the playoffs. I can only think of two other coaches in the area that can match that and they are pretty good coaches in their own right (Dudley & Larkey)

I agree withe these comments. Coach Jewell is a fine man and a good Coach. I would say not many people have a complaint with him. With that said, expectations are still present and the past two weeks looked very shaky on offense. Hopefully they can fix the offense before the defense gets disheartened and lets up.

Some people have more than a clue. Differences of opinion happen all the time. I think given the last two seasons something is not right. If South pulls a four year sweep the clues might be revealed to a few more folks as well. Hope we score 60 and then I will eat all the crow you can muster up. Winning the district is not the big prize. Some have higher expectations.

If that was directed at me...

I think that every one that knows me will tell you the i have the highest expectations every year for the Redhounds and that is to be on the Carpet.

I also admit that there will be growing pains as the season goes, not coaching changes!

The defense can't get too upset with the offense............they are pretty much the same players.

The Hounds will be fine, they just need some kids to step up and make some big plays, such as the ones Josh Martin made Saturday night.

I don't think that they are necesarilly aiming stuff at you, TH. It's just that this is 2 years in a row that the season has gone like this and people are wondering what is going on and how it could be repaired. It's not about expectations at this point, it's about execution and what is working and what is not working. Some things are not working and need to be adjusted, and that does not always mean trash the coaching staff. Play to what you have. See what will work, what could be a strength. Try different things. People other than you have high standards for the program and things have'nt been meeting them as of late. You know you will win the district, they just want quality wins outside district play, too, as is expected every year from the Hounds. It's just not been happening.

If Corbin was taking beatings early in the year from teams like Lynn Camp, w'burg, pineville. Yes i would be concerned. But instead it has been very good 3 and 4A teams that we have been playing very close. This is good for us it doesn't mean we need a new coach, this will make us this much better on down the road.

Things will change some next year for the hounds as they move into a new district not so easy. But my ? is will the Hounds still play a tough non district. What about it true redhound got any info on who they may play.

No but i am sure they will still be playing tough competition in the first five games. I don't know who yet though. That is the only way to better your self. Don't know how it will pan out yet as far and fuel prices and such. If there will be alot of big time traveling going on until you have too in the the district and the playoffs.

Corbin will keep playing the same schedule or type of schedule they have now. Watch and see. You'll not catch the Hounds scheduling Jellico just because they're close. The tougher the schedule, the better. MOST local teams play a fairly hard schedule, either up a couple of classes or tough teams from their own classes. One or so local schools like to play a watered down schedule, but I doubt you'll see Corbin do it, gas prices or not.

I agree, and I'll commend Lynn Camp on their scheduling as well. It's always good to have at least one cupcake for a confidence booster (McCreary for LC), (Pulaski this year it seems for Corbin) but most years it's tough non district slates. Leslie, PCC, Middlesboro, Whitley are all quality teams and my hat goes off to Mitchell. Even when he has down years (which is unavoidable for schools Lynn Camp's size) he at least plays 2 or 3 non district teams that are tough and prepare the Cats for the playoffs should they make it.

Corbin is the same way, you always see them playing tough competition before the playoffs and don't back away from anyone since Jewell has taken over. Pigskin alone proved that..Conner, Bryan Station, Henry Clay, Lex Cath, Rock, Somerset, and teams of those sorts. Throw in the likes of every year rivals such as Bell, Middlesboro, and South Laurel. The only year they had 2 cupcakes were when they played Williamsburg and North Laurel at home. The next year, North made a late rally and a game out of it, and Williamsburg pulled the shocker so that goes to show the competition is there.

Anyone, is there any truth to the rumor that Rock and Corbin will be hooking up on a yearly basis again next year?

Thanks, 82. A lot of the local teams play to prepare for the playoffs and it shows. Corbin, LC, and Whitley will keep on keeping on. Win or lose, it makes you better in the long run. (But, by the by, we did'nt really get a cupcake this year. They were all full.:) )

This is true, McCreary seems to be while not a tough team, pretty respectable this season.

They are tougher and should'nt be overlooked., but we don't have them on the schedule. We have Leslie (L), M'boro(L), @Perry County Central and @Whitley. Someone else is hogging all the cupcakes! Looks like we may BE the cupcake this year. :)

My bad, I thought LC and MC had a contract or something. Has that ran out or am I mistaking them for another team LC used to play? Yall didnt look too bad the other night against Middlesboro. I think the line play was what hurt yall a lot. The line is good but just didnt seem to have it together Friday. It also seemed that on,other than Scalf, yall couldn't turn them to the inside. That is the key to beating the Jackets. If their offense is forced up the middle, it's a long night for them but if they get to the outside, they are dangerous.

I don't think we had the Raiders on the schedule since '03. We have scrimmaged them since. We had Clay Co. for a couple of years. We are'nt getting consistent play out of the front yet. May be a few nagging injuries( we have'nt had all the starters in yet this year) or a lack of motivation. It's driving us crazy, especially with veterans on the line. We stopped M'bro in the middle last year, but they seemed to be a lot stronger this year, just could'nt get anything going. When do you all have them? They are tough.

When do you all have them? They are tough.

Week 7 which is September 29th up in Middlesboro.
