  1. The 3-5-3 was designed to counter the spread offense. Some advantages are that it allows you to get more speed on the field and you do not have to have great defensive linemen to play it. In the defense you are constantly moving and blitzing and that causes many teams problems. I think LCA is going to it to get more athletes on the field and combat the spread, which they are seeing a lot of. I personally like a 4-3 or 5-3 defense with a lot of slanting and blitzing based on the personnel you have.
  2. Look for LCA to employ a 3-5-3 scheme on defense. They are a System offense with alot of skill. If the offensive line losses can be filled, then look for them to continue to put up huge offensive numbers.
  3. Unforunately, this is happening in a lot of programs. When coaches make kids choose a sport, then it is no longer about the kids. At that point it is about the coach and his ego. Kids should be encouraged to play other sports and compete. I have seen football make basketball players tougher, basketball help a football players feet and quickness, and I've seen wrestling turn pudgy timid kids into aggressive monsters. Let the kids play what they want to and get the best athletes in the school on the field, mat, and court. Then you will see your athletic program imporve across the board. Good luck to Southwestern and I encourage the kids and parents to take a stand and play what sports they want to play.
  4. Tennessee also awards a Mr. Football Lineman that includes offensive and defensive lineman and linebackers. Plus, they award one for a kicker.

  7. Agreed, the Scott County Middle School coaches are a class act. Their kids play hard and display good sportsmanship.

  9. Tennessee is going to a new plan of alignment they call they z plan. Look on tssaa.org to get the details. It addresses the travel and local rivalry issues. For some teams it looks pretty good, but other teams are really going to struggle.
  10. Clark County over Trinity 1991 Clark County over St. X 1991 Gave county schools a glimmer of hope, which has since been extinguished.
  11. They had this a few seasons ago and he left for the same reasons.
  12. There is nothing more to the story. Wolfe is simply going a different direction in his life. Wolfe is a man of great character and will be successful in his future endeavors. Coaching high school football isn't all there is to life. As for throwing students off the mark, he worked the ASP or ISS program at PRP.

  14. Montgomery played very well. They did seem to get tired and had some trouble making open field tackles late in the game. Woodford threw alot of slip screens and MC had trouble in the open field. Kaleb Curtis is a warrior and the entire team feeds off of his energy. Montgomery County is moving in the right direction. Coach Gooch and his staff have done a wonderful job.
  15. That's just fans talking. It is a huge rivalry and the town gets jacked about it. You can bet MC will come back down to earth pretty quickly. I look for another close victory for MC, 24-21.

  19. SHOTGUN, SHOTGUN, YOU TALKIN' ABOUT THE SHOTGUN! Wolfe may need to go back to the ole triple option. You know what they say. "Dance with the one that brought ya."
  20. What type of offense is PRP running these days?
  21. West Players of the Game Defense: Richard Wells, Mason County Offense: Clint Greene, Clark County
  22. Coach Gooch has done a good job of getting Montgomery back in the playoffs. I wish the Tribe the best of luck on Friday. I'm not sure about recent years, but this rivalry used to be very heated back in the day. I remember slugging it out on the football field and all of that animosity carrying over into basketball. Back then we were not in the same district for football, but we were for basketball. Good luck to the Indians on Friday night and bring home a win. "It ain't against the law for you to work, Augustus."
  23. PRP pulls off the upset. 21-14.
  24. PRP vs. Oak Ridge TN. I'm sure that match up would get Gus McCrae a little fired up.
  25. Could PRP crash the Big Three's championship party? They have looked good beating a Dunbar team, who gave MBA a tough time, who in turn beat Trinity. I know winning one game is not a championship, but does PRP have the talent to make a run at the top? They have the coaching for sure, Wolfe does a tremendous job. I need some of you Louisville pigskin pundits to sound off on it. BTW, where the devil is Gus McCrae? I bet he's off nappin' or pullin' at his jug. "Newt, you best saddle up your pony too. I reckon."
