I wake up almost every morning with my shoulder and knees hurting. Every month I drop a fat check in the mail to make my student loan payments. I played small college football and for all that money, pain, and time this is what I got: 1. A college degree 2. A son who thinks his Dad's championship ring is the greatest thing in the world 3. A wife who wears my old jersey to work when her school has "jersey day" 4. A group of friends that I can count on anytime, anywhere 5. And, a whole bunch of stories that get better every year. Was it worth it? Hell yes.

I am not a huge "system" fan either, however, the talent that Franklin has coming is set up for that type of offense. They have a ton of young talent and bringing in a coach that is going to sling it around may help to keep most of that talent on the field.

Curtis Cotton is another system guy that needs to be looked at.

You guys should know by now that the vast majority of coaching hires are not made by football or even athletics minded people. This normally results in poor hires and high turnover. The only people that suffer are the student-athletes.

I have coached middle school for the past three years after spending the previous eleven coaching high school in Kentucky and Tennessee. We are one of the few middle school teams that can actually punt. We have won a couple of games because of the way we changed field position in a crucial moment.

If you have talent pep talks mean nothing. If you don't they might get you one good series.

You mean to tell me that Darland gets out of the gym long enough to coach? Interesting.

Plenty of rumors flying around, but nothing concrete.

The question with Brewer is: Does he want the job? He has a pretty good position at Montgomery County.

I would think that they would have to look outside as well. They are going to have to find a coach that is dedicated to staying and building a program. Whitaker had them on the right track, but consistency is what they need the most.

1. Keep the numbers up. They had 50-55 out for spring ball. They need at least that many in the fall. 2. Incorporate the young incoming talent into what they already have. They have at least 3 freshmen coming in that can either start or contribute greatly. A QB, RB/LB, and a WR/RB that could be the fastest kid on the team. 3. Develop depth on the offensive and defensive lines. I fear that lack of quality depth could hurt them down the line.

Two things that hurt young coaches: age and lack of head coaching experience. I have heard the latter in many of my interviews before.
