Bluto, I will be there personally to watch this one and get me one of those fine smoked grilled bologna sandwiches. JD

We haven't heard much about Hazard on here this year? What is the scouting report?

i can add some data on the Scouting report on Hazard:

We have 3 common opponents in this season: Paris, Corbin &Breathitt County – Hazard defeated Paris 52-6 (Lca beat Paris 56-0), Corbin beat Hazard 27-7 (Lca beat Corbin 42-21) and Breathitt beat Hazard 7-3 (LCA beat Breathitt 63-21) for what it is worth.

Hazard has had a fairly weaker schedule than LCA but is a well-coached team with a strong defense and a decent offense with many players scoring in different ways.

What the heck? I went with the underdog. I have been all year and my team is out now. Go Hazzard.

I don't think comparing scores helps much in this game. It seems like Hazard is playing much better now than they were earlier in the year. Who are their key players? What are their team's strengths and weaknesses?

I've got to go with LCA in this one. Yes Hazard took down LCA last year, but this is the basically the same team but much improved over last season. I have not seen Hazard play. But in all the years that I've watched high school football, and that's many, including some state champs out of Beechwood and NCC, I have not seen many that does everything right the way LCA does. Although not as big or as strong as some their execution is first rate.

Good luck to you LCA from this Ram.

This has turned into a nice rivalry between these two schools. Lots of different plot lines make this an intriguing game with ex coaches, ex players, upsets, blowouts. These two teams have meet four times in past two years. Home team winning all those games. Meeting for the third straight year in the state semi finals.

2007:

Hazard 42 LCA 21 @ Hazard

LCA 45 Hazard 21 @ LCA

2008:

LCA 49 Hazard 7 @ LCA

Hazard 28 LCA 21 @ Hazard

LCA will come in with what should be this years Mr. Football in Hayden. Four year starter and probably the best QB in 1A with Whitt. Combine that with the talented WR group led by Burdette. They are experienced and hungry to avenge last years lost to Hazard in the state semi finals. Hazard comes in a big underdog same as last year. The differnce being LCA returns with the same team at the skill positions where as Hazard had to replace all of their offensive skill positions. Hazard has replaced those starters with young, talented players but they are inexperienced when compared to the LCA players. Hazard can pull off the upset but will need help from LCA in the way of turnovers and missed assignments. If that happens Hazard will need to take advantage of those miscues, control the clock to keep the powerful LCA offense off the field, and not turn the ball over themselves. Then maybe they can put themselves in position to pull off the upset.

No doubt LCA is the big favorite in this years matchup and should win. Hazard looks foward to coming down and giving it our best shot. Its been a fun three years following this football team and we hope to represent not only Hazard and Perry County, but the whole mountain region with hardwork, determination and class. Good luck to both teams, here is hoping Hazad can pull off the upset again!

Here are their Stats YTD(after 12 games -- I think - maybe 11 - not sure as it was posted 11/17/2009 to KHSAA):

LCA is the clear favorite to win The Class A title. Hazard will play hard, but in the end, way too many weapons for LCA.

LCA, the Old Rambler is on your side this week as well as predicting you will take this one. :thumb:

One mistake people may be making is that saying this is basically the same LCA team as last season. The names/kids are the same but another year experienced, better at al facets of the game and are even more driven toward a state title. I am not putting Hazard down at all. I have to pick LCA in this one, my Raceland Rams weren't a great team this season but I think I am being fair in saying we weren't a bad team either. Raceland ran into a Machine last week. LCA is right now playing as well as I have ever seen a 1A team play. (and I have seen, been whipped by some great Beechwood teams on several occasions). Nothing against Beechwood either, you guys are the example for all of 1A football programs. Just that this LCA team, this season is s good as I have seen.

^Agree, this LCA team is for real and is the Class of 1A this season,LCA by at least 3 TDs.

Edit.

LCA is a machine. They have the total package. Strong running game mixed with a very good passing game. They play great defense. Very strong on both O & D lines. I have liked this team since the whipping of my Panthers in a preseason scrimmage. If anything slows this LCA team down this week, it might be them looking ahead to the Finals.
