Option Right Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Heard today that Paris football coach Matt Thompson has stepped down to take another position at a school in Florida. If this is the case, which I think it is, then Paris will be looking for their 8th coach in the last 14 seasons. For a program that was one of the best in the state of KY, this has now become a serious problem. What in the world is going on at Paris High School and its football program? Can someone please explain?:irked:

They will go out and hire a good coach but then when that coach realizes he doesnt have the support he needs to keep his team to have consistant winning seasons they bail. Washington the coach before Thompson was not the case were I think it was family problems and he needed to be with his family, but he coached some good Paris teams. Paris needs to go hire a former Paris football player or assistant with some coaching experiance who cares about the program and is willing to stay for the long haul to give this program a chance to rebuild.
PARISPRIDE Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I have tried to thank everyone I can in the past 72 hours since my announcement for all the hard work this past season. I'd like to use this venue to honor the wonderful people of Paris and wish the kids and future coach nothing but the best. Leaving Paris was a difficult decision but with the level of focus and community support that high school football gets in Florida this opportunity was impossible to pass up. I will do all I can for Paris Football in the future and hope that the next coach can build off the momentum and discipline we have instilled. Paris, as we all know, has a storied tradition and there are still many good kids here to build a program around. With a dwindling male population from the high school to the elementary it will be a challenge in the long run. It can and will happen with time. Overall, it has been an outstanding experience and I wish the kids, parents and all of Paris nothing but the best. :thumb:

The same can be said for Bourbon county and not just for football.

If you want to start your own thread about the Colonels please do so, but just let me say that BoCo has done a better job with coaches than you may think. Sounds as if you have something personal against the coaching staff's.

Maybe call back some of the applicants they turned down last year...who were probably more qualified than MT anyway. Just hope that the "committee" who interviews the coaches this time will have some knowledge of the game.

They had this a few seasons ago and he left for the same reasons.

Can someone please explain?:irked: Souch a touchy subject. If I had more time I wouldn't mind voicing my opinion to the school board. But in answer to your question about what is going on, just put 2 & 2 together. The coaches keep leaving due to the "band" issue.(At least that's the rumor) So when your principal is the band director's wife who do you think she's going to side with?:sssh:
