Paris Football Coach Resigns

Featured Replies

Actually, the Site Based Decision Making Council hires the principal, now the superintendent can fire the principal.

I was getting ready to add to that to include SB.

I was just helping you out.:D

From what I understood Thompson was still going to run this. However I could be wrong.. again... But if this was the case and I was a high school player I doubt I would want to participate knowing that he just up and left us.

I would love to see the kids have spring practice... but it wouldn't be right for me to conduct. I have discussed it with current assistants and our AD and am hopeful that there is a way for assistants to have spring ball. It would be a good time to work on fundamentals and reward the kids that have worked hard in the weightroom this winter. There are some great kids here and I wish them well. Several posts have touched on issues holding back the football program, but the surface to the problems at Paris hasn't even been scratched and this forum isn't the place to air them. "We will stay the same until the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change." There are good kids at Paris and the ability to build a good football team is alive. As I stated before, it will take time. I plan on helping in the transition in any way shape or form for the future coach and wish that person and everyone in Paris nothing but the best. Lot's of good people and I'm happy to have met and worked with them.

If the board hires the Supt. then the could effect the principal position, couldn't they?

I think the board still has some control.

Little off topic but Williamstown has a marching band but no football team. The do not even have a football field. They are also more well funded then a number of football programs.

Over the last 3-4 years I have been on the other sidelines against Paris's MS program. though small in numbers there is talent there without question. It is a shame a school has to go through stuff like this. Best of luck to the program

I have a good friend from the Florida coaching ranks who would be very interested in taking the reigns at Paris. Kevin Mays has been on staff at one of the best programs in the state of Florida (Palm Bay High School) as an offensive coordinator and would be a good fit here to continue building off the discipline and direction we worked very hard to achieve. His wife is dead set on getting to the bluegrass state and I would love for him to lead this program... I want to see it land in good hands and he would do an outstanding job! He cares about the kids and is passionate about the game. Paris would be lucky to get him. :thumb:

Well Paris Pride, tell him to send his resume to West 7th Street.:D

Good observation. I stated earlier too that the feeder program(s) look really good, and compete really well.

I would love to answer Option Right's question, but like Paris Pride stated, that would have to go to another forum. I myself only scratched the surface with my frustrations.

But will say it again... Parents have to get involved and make a stand. And that takes more then two or three, it takes a group effort.

My understanding is that the principal is retiring in two years. That would be a good start for the high school. (imo)

Amazing....you would recommend the job you are running from after one year to a FRIEND?

There is nothing like two desperate parties getting together to form a great relationship.

I would stay out of it and let the Paris faithful figure out their future.

I am going to miss PARISPRIDE, he was very entertaining in his short time here with us at BGP. What will we talk about in Paris Football next year? lol.

I just hope PHS can get something together for Spring Practice, and keep their weight program going.

Coach Thompson did a good job getting the winter program going and I don't know many that can survive his summer practices either.

I think he is good coach as well. Not a good fit at Paris, however, from what we are hearing....is there a good fit?

The band director may want to pull some double duty.
