You talk about kids playing multiple sports, well at a small school like Paris, if you don't play more than one sport then you probably won't have enough to field a team..

I agree with blues.. If you don't have all the kids play multiple sports then you aren't going to have enough. I also don't think its fair to make a kid choose between football and band. If you are in band, great, but on Friday nights during the game, yes you should be in the locker room with your team. Leave the band stuff for after/during school and Saturday's for competitions.

And it's not that I really disagree, its just one of the pros/cons of being a small school like Paris, something suffers, it will struggle to be well rounded.

I personally believe that when a kid gets to high school its time to narrow it down. Nothing wrong with being an athlete and able to excel... But in this case how many football/basketball players dedicate to the weightroom. I know that answer, does anybody else?

 

Can someone tell me if the City School District Boundaries have grown or has it stayed the same in the last ten years? I believe it has stayed the same. The growth in the Bourbon County is happening in the County School District Boundaries.

So can anyone on here verify that they have been in touch with Paris Schools regarding the coaching position?

If so, can you give us any information on what the plan is for moving forward?

When you are in a small school, you have to work together. The past 3 years I have been inthe same situation. The guy that stands up on that platform and waves his hands has been a football player. I allow them to do what they need to do at halftime and I talk with them during our warm-up period about any changes that we have made. I also have others that are also inthe band.The band director and I work out a practice schedule that will workfor both of us. That is just one of the problems that I face. I assure you that Paris has better faculities and better athletes than I do. But we have still find a way to win. IMO people focus way toomuch on the negatives and that rubs off onthe kids. When I got to my school I had no coaches so the line came in for 2 1/2 hours and then the skill came in for 2 1/2 hours. That is 5 hours of football for me evey day for 8 weeks.

I do believe that is part of the reason this thread was posted. TO air out the problems and try to clear the air in Paris. That I am sure will help applicants know what type of situations they are going to have to work with deal with and try to work out with fans/players/administration/teachers....:thumb:

Equipment? Why would they be worried about equipment right now when I'm sure all 3 of these guys are trying to bring Paris football back to the days when they played! It could be about them taking over Spring Practice :sssh:

Nice post. And yes that is wonderful thing about 1A Schools. Some think it is a good thing that the kids can participate in every sport. (I don't think that, I think a kid should stick with one sport, just my opinion) And in Paris' case, the football players are generally the majority of the basketball players or the baseball players and the track team... My only problem with this is, when you are spread thin, then something suffers, and right now the boys basketball is beyond hard times, and the football is following right along. Girls basketball has thrived really well the last 4 years. Nothing is really "well rounded". But that IMO, there are the pros and cons. Academically Paris is good... And that should be priority #1, just seems nothing much else is a priority after that, and that is not fair. When I was in school, on Fridays in town, the town was pretty much decorated in Orange & Black. The crosstown rival was so fun! We had parades, fights, and that other stuff.... I even have suggested that the school start a Pep Club again... I don't know how hard they pushed it though? I think a lot of problems could be solved if the school hired me as a consultant! :lol:

 

 

I lettered in four sports at Paris and enjoyed each one. If a kid can do it ... so be it. That's the luxury of a small school. :ylsuper:
