These 2 players said they knew the one guy because he coached middle school, and the other because he takes pictures and keeps stats for high school. The other they didnt know who it was but said they had seen him around the games.

My thinking the person who takes pictures is a lady???

I know who the middle school coach is, but the other two I can't figure that one out?

Isn't that what the 2 months of summer are for? I think you can get quite a bit of weightlifting in in two months before you start football practice.

Well goodluck to them, I hope they can put something together. My understanding is the "band kids" have been the most consistent coming to weightlifting. As Mrs Grigson says "kudos".

I am little confused on part of the band issue. I was under the impression that band was a class and marching band is an after school activity that one joins. How can a teacher tie a grade to an after school event? If the kids have to fund raise, pay for and travel to compete then how do you tie that to a class and a grade?

This could obviously be its own thread. Polling the bluegrass whether or not small a schooled students should be allowed to play other sports, or if this issue of not weightlifting is happening to other schools. I don't understand the difference between weightlifting and staying active anyway. They are running and building leg strength anyway. And a baseball player is building arm strength from pitching/batting, and who said that these other sports don't have weightlifting exercises for them anyway?

Playing other sports can not replace weight lifting. Again, I am not saying that players should only play one sport, but playing basketball or baseball does not replace weight lifting.

Lifting weights for two months in not the same as lifting weights for an entire year, if it was we would all look like Hulk Hogan. The sheer process of weight lifting shows that, over time, the more you lift the stronger you get.

I don't know that answer, but it just is... so is marching in the Christams Parade, it's part of your "participation" grade.
