I don't think anyone on here is against the band or having a band program.

 

The important thing on this is that it is not a new issue. Paris may want the band more than the other revenue producing sports.

 

Its a real shame. They have a rich football history. Was Blanton Collier a band director??....seems like I heard that somewhere.

This thread is staying civil, just lets make sure it stays that way.

No fee. It is a class. I'd say a good third of the school is in band.

 

I recall Paris and Bourbon County had some talented teams an spirited rivalries several years ago. I recall former Trinity coach Roger Grunheisen working at both places and he headed for Florida as well!

 

 

Band and football can coexist. But each should get the revenue they help generate. Best of luck on landing a new coach quickly!

That is true. And I have nothing against the band, I think they help with the spirit at the ball games, but in our case; we can't get the band to stay after the half-time show. It is not the band we dislike, I actually enjoy listening to them, and in their own world, that is hard work for them....

 

So like you say, and lead to, sounds like Paris once again will not be having Spring Practice. But I don't think that matters to the adm. they wouldn't understand that or know how important that is.

Oh and another mistake I need to list, and probably by the same person that hired the elementary music teacher to be the HS principal; and that mistake is, they let Randy Reese go. Coach Reese could've stayed on and been the principal. He was already doing wonderful things with the discipline at the middle school....

And I do believe all have at one time/were appointed. No one runs for it anymore. Besides school board has no say so with the principal. She is quick to point that out to them.

From what I understood Thompson was still going to run this. However I could be wrong.. again... But if this was the case and I was a high school player I doubt I would want to participate knowing that he just up and left us.

What can you work towards? They would just be going out to pass time, you could do all fundamental work....but who would really be focused, the players or the coaches?

Actually, the Site Based Decision Making Council hires the principal, now the superintendent can fire the principal.

The supdt doesn't hire the principals those are hired by the site-base councils at the schools.
