Ram Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 What does Lexington Christian need to do to improve in 2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Marovich22 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Defense!!!!! They Will bring back three of the top 10 players at their position in the state. Witt at QB, Hayden a RB and Burdett at WR. They lost some linemen if I am not mistaken so they will have a core of position players but will need to develop some of their younger kids.

Some veterans who don't get a ton of press are DL Zach West and Beau Baker LB Neil Whitman Db Drew Walls Those guys could play for anyone in the city. The rest of the defense needs to step up with them. Edited March 20, 2009 by Ram Rule 13
PAPA PIGSKIN Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 LCA has established itself as a top program in 1a. They have the pieces in place to be a factor in 1a for many years to come... weight and speed program, facilities, quality coaches. Their offense is as good as I have seen with balance in the running game and passing game. If LCA can feed off of their offensive success and build a strong defensive mentality and culture then the sky is the limit as far as potential for this program. The defense must make strides this year and big time success could follow.
TheLegends64 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 If LCA doesn't win class A, I will be suprised and dissapointed.
biguglys Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 I agree LCA's facilities are the best in all single A. Even though Raceland had a good run against LCA for a couple of years, year in and year out no team in that district will compete with LCA because they will continue to get players. If you haven't gotten a chance to see the field, weightroom, school, etc. go look at it unbelievable! They have the most experienced, and talented team coming back in single A so they should be the favorites.
sidelinedoc Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Raceland has only respect for LCA. In order to be the best, you have to beat the best. I think LCA will be the cream of 1A football this year which means Raceland will have to beat them at LCA if they want to continue to build on their own success. That being said, we'll have to play extremely well in order to do that. My hats off to a great team and great coaching staff.:thumb:

However facilities don't win games. They must go out and earn wins. They have a bullseye on thier back and everyone takes thier shots.
Guest Bluto Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 LCA's O-line lost Harmon, Easley and Ballard. Ballard was out half the season with a knee injury, which gave a lot of playing time for others. Returning O-line Starters (either full or part-time) include West, Fairchild, Baker & Jacoby. Each of those guys played most of the 2007 championship game, so they have a lot of experience to go with further strength development. Plus there are 8-10 others vying for the starting spots. While the 3 graduating seniors will be missed, the outlook for the offensive line looks good.
Guest Bluto Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 LCA's Offensive skill players return starters (QB) Witt, (RB) Hayden & (WR) Burdette. LCA lost a number of receivers, but that is a position that they seem to have in depth, and they should be able to find suitable replacements.
DADDY CAT Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I look for LCA to be as good, or better, than the last 2 years. Looks like they will still have everything they need to be at or near the top in 1A. Bluto, here's wishing all of you luck in all but 1, or possibly 2 (IF we get to you in the playoffs again), games next year! I really do feel like the Eagles have the edge on the B'wood Tigers this year going in.

LCA has been the best offensive team in the state but defense wins championships. Is LCA doing anything to try and get better defensively? I am not talking about players. I am talking about coaching. I think defense is where they need to get better. Although, the offense will be so good they might be able to finally "out score" their way to a title in 2009.
kypride Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Last years defense was a failure. There is a movement to return to the scheme of 2 years ago that got them to the final. Plus the staff has visited to schools who have won very recent state titles with a great defense.
Captain W F Call Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Look for LCA to employ a 3-5-3 scheme on defense. They are a System offense with alot of skill. If the offensive line losses can be filled, then look for them to continue to put up huge offensive numbers.
big impact Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Do they play Corbin again this year? I really hope so, it's always a battle.
