  1. I can see why they would want to move to 3A if they were gonna have Corbin, Middlesboro, Leslie Co. and Knott Co. Exactly the reason they came into our district, running from Danville.:thumb:
  2. I had the pleasure of lining up against him in our game against Breathitt. I will agree he's one of the best centers I've lined up against this year.
  3. Nope, but just answering this post as asked begs for retrospective information. Looking back at most of you good Somerset fan's postings from last week, Harlan was beaten by 40 points. I'd say we exceeded your expectations.
  4. Lynn Camp needs to rally after their showing at Cumberland (not taking anything away from cumberland!) Last year was an awesome game between these two teams, but IMO, Somerset has too much speed for Lynn Camp, but Lynn Camp seems to be the more physical team. Since Somerset handed Cumberland a big "whoopin", I'll say S:54 LC:35
  5. Another good district match-up. A win here could seal a district championship game for the Dragons. However, Pineville is not a team to be overlooked. Thoughts? Comments?
  6. I'll agree, I saw him at the Williamsburgh and Somerset game last friday, that kid has a leg!!! While I'm on the subject, didn't Middlesboro have a kicker around 1998-1999 that set a state record for longest filegoal (63-64 yards?) However, this info is just "hear-say" so correct me if I'm wrong.:thumb:
  7. This one is looking VERY bad for the Wildcats, however, don't count the Wildcats out because they looked very good against a passing attack (similar, but not as good as Somerset's) against Cumberland. Somerset scores as they wish, and Evarts puts up 2 scores.
  8. How will this game turn out? Harlan is (3-0) in district play. What are your all's predictions for this district showdown?
  9. You can't forget the other men on the d-line...#74 Westley Howard, and #44 (dub-4) Thomas Farrow. I would go as far as saying that Harlan has one of the (if not the best) d-line in the mountains.
  10. What about Ashland Blazer? I've heared they're field and atmosphere can't be beaten on a friday night.
  11. Slusher, Bell Co. I'm not sure on the name, but I remember a MLB from Williamsburgh High School last year that was a junior, I believe his last name was Root? However, I just remember his stats were pretty impressive for his size.
  12. I would definetly agree. He's got great size to go along with his talent.
  13. Sorry to make it sound like that. I know that Will Pope has had some offers from college, not sure if they're for punting or receiving, but he has the size and the hands to be considered one. However, its hard to get the receiving yards that make you stand out when you're being double covered like he is. IMO, Pope and Cole (somerset) are they best two in the mountains.
  14. Will Pope, Harlan Highschool. Having trouble finding the endzone from defenses keying their coverages on him. Derek Sheffield is leading Harlan County in receiving, and is also leading the green dragons.
  15. Harlan Green Dragons. 5-1 (3-0). Best start to a season in a while. Also Somerset, with an 0-4, many people wrote them off, but they have the talent to sweep the district as well.
  16. I will agree, both of those kids create a great backfield for the Bobcat's, and Fugate will be a great one to watch in the years to come.
  17. 283 yards is an excellent game on the ground, considering Mr. Roskopf touched the ball around 30-35 times.
  18. Good luck to both teams! I'm looking forward to our game against Williamsburgh next week and Somerset at the end of the season. As far as predictions, I don't belive Williamsburgh has the defense to cover the Deaton and Mr. Cole combo, so I'll go out on a limb and say that Somerset scores as many as they can, and Williamsburgh ends up with 21.
  19. Once again, a game I would've liked to attend. Regardless of W's and L's, I still believe that Highlands is one of the (if not the best) team in the state, I mean, look at their scheduel. Good luck next week bluebirds!
  20. The biggest D line maybe, but Harlan's D line is up to that challenge.
  21. I don't know much about the DeSales team, but I do know I am rooting for the birds. Once again, good-luck from your SEKY fan!
  22. This will be a true WAR of a high-powered offense, and a high-powered defense. What are your all's predictions for this huge game in District 7?
  23. Hard fought win for the bobcats, I tip my hat off to their defense for playing well against our offense. We HAD a chance to comeback and win with about 8 minutes left in the game, Harlan was within 30 yards of the endzone, and an interception gave the bobcats a chance to run the clock out. Harlan continues to a district rival against Lynn Camp next week.
