  1. Tis' true "father of a jumper", our focus on both games was to slow down mr. cole's attack, and we did. However, the game isn't won by slowing down one receiver, Somerset was loaded these past two seasons and did a good job utilizing their talent. But like my good friend said in an earlier post, the wet field ALSO effects the secondary's ability to cover, but I also believe as a team we were wanting just to punish John Cole instead of focusing on winning the game. Anyways, before I start something no one else can finish, I'll throw out Bradford Marsili's name, maybe not top in the state but definetly should be one of the top threats in the region. 6'1 body, 180lbs? low 4.7 forty, and has around a 32 inch vertical? Didn't get to see much playing time last season (as expected) playing behind great talent like Will Pope. And another name from around the region: Shaunte Zachary of the Bell County Bobcats should scare some other teams this year.
  2. I beg to differ...Harlan's Michael Bianchi (kicker) held the talented Mr. Cole to around 20 receiving yards in Harlan and Somerset's first game this past season. And I believe the second game held him under 40. There's a funny story that goes along with this I suppose I'll share (not to poke fun at Somerset or John Cole...because everybody knows he's one of the most talented receivers Eastern Kentucky's ever had.) But it was late in the first game, and emotions were flaring, and Mr. Bianchi said something that must have pushed Mr. Cole's buttons and Cole proceeded to say to Bianchi: "I run a 4.4 forty! What do you run?" and Michael cleverly responded: "Buddy I don't know, I'm just the kicker." Cole walked away with his head hung...and YES before someone from Somerset replies...YOU ALL WON! Congradulations! Good luck in class AAA, we wish you all well!
  3. What about the Harlan and PCC match up, who do you think will come out on top? Also, how is Al Holand doing? Didn't he continue his career somewhere like Wake Forest? Correct me if I'm wrong.
  4. Haha! Almost sounds like the Evarts High School of Lexington, not to make fun of them or anything, but they're probably the most "run" orriented team in these parts.
  5. Coach D is pretty much tenyeared..however you spell it. They made it official when announcing her leaving at graduation. She was a big supporter of all sports, but even said she loved football most. Back to Coach D, I'd say he'll be with the Dragons for a pretty long time.
  6. Now, I recognize my "say-so" is little in this just being from a small little mountain school, but what about trying to play some smaller teams from down in this region. You've gotta look at what team struggles with, and choose to play teams that excel in that aspect of the game. Such as if your run-defense is struggling, definetly come down here, where it isn't a sin for a running back to carry the ball 40-60 times. However, I'm just Class "A", yal are to "finese" for me.
  7. Euless Trinity Trojans! They perform the "Haka" dance before their games. Videos can be found on youtube as well. Its really neat, and definetly has to intimidate the other team. Besides Tx. Football, I would have to say Harlan's isn't to shabby for a Class "A" team. White smoke fills the tunnel beneath the stadium and hundreds of fans line up infront of and behind a large sign to form a spirit line, and the players proceed to run through the tunnel, appear from out of nowhere in the smoke, burst through the sign and jump up and down in a circle chanting "Dragons!". Really neat experience.
  8. You might as well add in Hunter Lutrell, he ran in the high 4.5's for his forty time, and ran a 4.2 shuttle. So he'll be interesting to watch in the mountains this year.
  9. Oh yeah, Hunter is definetly playing next season. He was just clocked at a 4.58 forty yesterday, and benched 200 lbs. He can move, and as you said South, he can sure hit!
  10. I'd watch out because Hunter Luttrell JUST transferred last year and was ruled ineligible. Ineligible...without ever transferring back.
  11. For Mountain Pride 10...lol: The '07 season for the Green Dragons could be an interesting one. As many people have put it, it should be a rebuilding year after losing 8 starters on both sides of the ball. So far, the Dragons have shown great improvement, and young talent is arising in many younger players. Sophomore Bryan Cloud (6'2, 260) should help fill in some of the needed holes on the offensive/defensive line. Allen Hensley and Andrew Link could definetly help the Dragons at the WR/RB/CB/LB/SS positions (in other words, they could help a lot!) The Dragons will return 7 seasoned players on offense (Chase Jones, Jon Heck, Wesley Howard, Josh Johnson, Aaron Jones, Jacob Cole, and Bradford Marsili.) On defense, the dragons return Howard and Jones up front, with posibilities of Heck and Cloud playing there as well. The LB crew will solid again with returning players in Josh Johnson and Jacob Cole, with the addition of Andrew Link, the LB crew could be as explosive as ever. The secondary could possibily include C.Jones, Marsili, Luttrell, Hensley, and others. I'm no sports analyst so you can read a perfect report on the Green Dragons spring practice on the Harlan Daily website.
  12. Harlan v.s. Cumberland this past season. Harlan was down by a touchdown in the fourth quarter with around 2:00 left. The dragons line up in regular kickoff formation, and kicker Michael Bianchi bounces it off a Cumberland player's chest and recovers the kick. Harlan threw a touchdown pass with 2:00 left and won the game 21-14.
  13. I suppose its been pretty easy competing for a district title when there's only been like 4 teams in the district. And about the basketball game, ask someone who was apart of it....me. Now, "heckling" the players is just fun innocence and can be observed at any high school. However, when the students are screaming profanities so loud that the coach has to move the bench out on the floor, and when they start chanting "overweight" to certain players (who actually had a better game than other players, and DIDN'T shoot the ball around 40 times), that's just too much!
  14. Ahh, I'd much rather have people from NCC, they seemed to burn/contain you all pretty good! (For the past two seasons.):thumb:
  15. Well, right now we only have 6 people lifting day after day, so, its not looking good for spring practice. However, I think something is being worked out so the baseball players will be able to attend atleast most of the spring practice. As for our defense, I expect us to stay in the same formation, but bring a lot more pressure (from what RELIABLE sources tell me!), but nothing too crazy. As of now, I'm not sure about the offense, I doubt that we'll stay shotgun since the only WR returning with any experience is Bradford Marsili. With the addition of Lutrell, I expect the offense to revolve around the running game like teams saw in the 2004 season, but none of this is for certain at the moment. We're still waiting for John Cole, Tim Teabow, and LaDanian Tomlinson to be accepted by the school board and ruled eligible for this season, so, things are looking good!
  16. CIVILIZED...indeed. HAHA! Hunter is a great person to be around, and I'm sure he'll be an excellent person to play with. Only time will tell...right Mr. Quarterback?
  17. Ok, this I time I have permission to be on the internet during school, so, Hunter is about 5'9-5'10, weighs about 180lbs. His fastest forty time is a 4.6, he's 4th on harlan's all-time shuttle run list when he was clocked at like a 4.3, benches around 185, squats right at 300, so all around he's a natural-born ball player. To switch players, someone who you might want to look for in the future is Soph. Kenny Pennington. He's about 6'1 170lbs, powercleans around 175, squats almost 300, and benches around 160, he's gonna be a heck of a ball player if we can keep him off the baseball field and in the weight room..lol. But if he keeps working as hard as he did his freshman year, you'll probably be hearing his name all over the place in a while. (Sorry Dad, got bored and had to post something!)
  18. My deepest appologies, however, I am in class, and boy what a luxury the internet in school is! lol.
  19. No offense to anybody, but I thought this was a thread for football, not cross-county political and educational debates, or maybe I'm just too young to understand the importance your all's conversation. However, concerning Luttrell, he's CRAZY, and having to sit out last season just pushed him over the edge. He's probably as close to John Luttrell as you can get, and is pretty fast which is just the icing on the cake. However, the strong point of Harlan should once again be the line. (Not saying this in being biast.) But they have 5 solid offensive, and 2 solid defensive linemen coming back. Alot of young talent will be forced to step in with a lot of weight on their shoulders, however, from the work the younger players have put in during the offseason, it should be an exciting year for the Green Dragons.
  20. Losing over 10 seniors this year, how do you think the Green Dragons will fair in the '07 season? Harlan's defense year-in and year-out always steps up during the season. Harlan is known as a "run-offense" but changed things up last season by moving to shotgun. Also, there could be a suprise in store found in running back Hunter Luttrell (senior), who was ruled ineligible by KHSAA last season.
  21. Somerset's record, definetly doesn't reflect their team. No offense to Hazard, but Harlan beat them 34-0 in the regular season, however, Hazard is playing way better ball than they did against the Dragons. I just don't see a way for Hazard to shut down the Cole and Deaton combo...atleast hardly anybody has yet. S-54 H-21
  22. Too much Grimm, and too much hard-nosed defense for Rockcastle. JC wins by a comfortable margin.
  23. To all Somerset fans, I appologize for my comment. I was in a bad mood with a sour-taste left in my mouth, however, thats no excuse for what I said and I'm truly sorry. Good luck to you and yours this week!
  24. You never told me who you were, but i certainly know by now you weren't the "itty-bitty" center on the offensive line. However, dominated? Don't think so....abused, nah. Faster, definetly, however, it doesn't take much to outrun a group full of farm boys, but you can never out-hit them. You might have won some games while playing in this district, but, let's remember years before when the admirals "bent you over and tore you a new one". You all beat fair and square, and congradulations. How many senior linemen were there? And to Cole, you're fast, but our KICKER...yes KICKER was able to cover you...there's proof for ya Notre Dame!
