  1. I doubt JB would try and score 70 points to embarass Cawood, he teaches class to the players, and maintains class in all the games. But, sometimes you can't do anything about it when a team is on fire and scoring at will. And as for predictions, I'll keep my mouth shut and not post any board material.
  2. Cumberland and M'boro are the first game. This COULD be interesting. Aren't the redskins ranked 9th in class A? Anyways, I don't see the Jackets having any trouble stopping them.
  3. Harlan v.s. Willamsburgh, Bell Co. v.s. Evarts. One really good match up, and one that looks like it could be a disaster. Please post your predictions for both games.
  4. Well folks, yesterday went pretty well. Knox Central also made an appearance. Cumberland Gap spread the field and slung it all over the place, and did it pretty well. They were huge up front, probably avg. 6'2 270 across the front, QB was around 6'5 and threw the ball extremely well, and the receivers caught pretty much anything that came their way. Knox Central was very impressive. They ran the ball well and threw it well when they did. Not as tall as Cumberland Gap was up front, but way more physical! The Full Back was the most impressive threat, and gained atleast 3-4 yards every run. As for Harlan, things started off pretty shaky, and then went pretty good the rest of the time. Hunter Luttrell, Kenny Pennington, and Andrew Link were all three impressive running the ball. Harlan's OL looked pretty good, but still lack a solid 5 man group to work together all the time. Bradford Marsili looked decent at the WR spot making a couple of nice catches, but Allen Hensley was very impressive on both sides of the ball. Chase Jones made a decent show as well on offense. He made some good runs and a couple of good passes, but was picked off twice. All in all, Harlan looked good against a 3-4A and a 5A school.
  5. Indeed Waggle. I personally think your idea about the winning team getting the 5 for $5.95 deal is a great idea! Maybe the Boy's Choir will pay tribute to Rax this year in our fall concert, I'm sure Davies or Schraeder could come up with some lyrics.
  6. I would agree with you...Middlesboro is definetly one of the hardest places to play in SEKY. I would also have to say Cumberland High School. The visitors side line has water pipes underneathe it and even on the hottest nights its covered in water and mud.
  7. Definetly so Mountain Pride, however, with the monsoon we've had lately the process has been delayed and the people have went to tend to Campbellsville High School's field until our field dries a little. The only thing that could hurt it now is if another "EHS" or something like that is burned into the field..lol.
  8. Like Mr. Quarterback said..this rivalry will be missed. You've gotta look at the positives for both teams. Harlan: solid coaching staff, good offense, good defense (traditionally), strong-talented senior class. Cawood: strong-physical, three good runningbacks, and the addition of Coach Perry doesn't hurt. However, being a Harlan player, I predict the Dragons coming out on top by atleast 2 TD's.
  9. Personally if I were a referee, my attention would be directed on the field of play instead of finding an excuse to throw some rowdy fan out. "Let the men yell!" Umm..today it was black shorts, and ofcourse hat, once again, kinda creepy you're wondering what another man is wearing... Anyways, Coach Curry is doing an excellent job, taught us some new stuff, and in group conditioning, he gets real intense, in a good way. Some new comers to watch for would be Allen Hensley, Andrew Link, and a transfer from Lee County and Cawood, Brenden Asher. Pretty big kid, around 5'10" 250..just eye ballin'. Hasn't been ruled eligible yet, but you know how tough the KHSAA is on Harlan's "recruiting." Mountain Pride, I don't know if you've heared but our field will be upgraded within the next week. The school kindly splurged the money to have crushed rubber put in and on the field. Just thought you and everyone would like to know. The grass is growin' good, and practice is wonderful, stop by and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
  10. Since the Guru asked for this to be constructinve, I'll answer your questions busted lung: there were 30-31 kids at the first practice last night, two kids who were expected to play were missing...its untelling if they'll play or not. there was around 15 linemen, 12 receivers and running backs, and 2-3 qb's. As for coaches, there was JB, coach Shope, and the line coach will be Michael Curry (graduated 2003, played line for the dragons.) As for looking good, the whole team looked good, especially the line in the line drills (which is where i was.) And I don't know why in the world you want to know what JB had on, but i believe it was a pair of shorts and a harlan tshirt there buddy.
  11. Good reply Moutain Pride 10..and about the 400 lb benches and the 350 lb power cleans, they should recheck what they heard. At the recent weight lifting competition the highest bench press for Cawood was Royal Bargo with maybe 350-360...and the strongest powerclean for Cawood was 265...so...thats astonishing if they've improved their strength that much since then, but it doesn't sound probable.
  12. Well friends and close relatives, its time once again for another analysis for the county teams' up-coming seasons. We'll start with my favorite, the Green Dragons! HARLAN: could be a shocker team this year. The loss of 13 talented seniors is always a hard blow to any team, but this year's senior stock isn't too shabby. The talk of the town (Chase Jones 6'4 180) will return as the starting QB. With an impressing 1400 passing yards last year (really good for a running team) Chase is expected to do big things this year. Kenny Pennington could also be seen taking some snaps in the event of Jones' "absence." While the loss of talent receivers like Pope, Sheffield and Goodin, Harlan returns some equivilent talent at the WR possition. Sen. Bradford Marsili (6'1 170) will be Jones' primary target this year. Marsili saw some time at receiver last year, but didn't play as much considering Pope was the main target. However, Marsili posted a 4.7 forty during the offseason, and had a good showing at each of Harlan's 7 on 7's. Two other prospects at the receiver position could be Soph. Kenny Pennington (6'1 165) and Allen Hensley (6'0 160). At running back, Sen. Hunter Luttrell (transfer from South Oldham, 5'9 180, 4.62 forty) will be expected to carry the load for the Dragon's running game. Replacing Jon Lundy will be no easy task for Luttrell, but after sitting out his Junior season, Luttrell is ready as can be to where a green jersey. Sen. Jon Heck (5'9 195) will see time at both runningback and fullback possitions. Other candidates include: Soph. Andrew Link, Soph. Josh Ball. The "hogs" this year will be lead by Sen. Westley Howard (6'3 235) and Aaron Jones (6'0 275). Howard will remain in the tackle spot, and Jones is expected to fill in for All State center Blake James. Joining Howard and Jones will be returning Junior Jacob Cole (5'10 205) at guard, Soph. James Hill (6'0 215), and Evan Dugger (5'10 200). Also, Soph. Bryan Cloud (6'2 265) didn't play last season but attended lifting and spring practice. Also, Frosh. Zach Allen (6'1 260) could very well find himself in the starting line up for the dragons. And at the Tight End possition, Ben Cornett (6'1 185) will be expected to excell in both blocking and receiving for the dragons this season. As far as defense is concerned, the dragons are without their usual defensive cordinator Eric Perry, but have Frank Shope to fill in. Therefore, its untelling what type of defense teams can expect to see from the dragons this season. CAWOOD: The trojans could also be another shocker team in the mountains this season. With the addition of Eric Perry as head coach, the trojans could have a season to remember. Now, understand that I play for Harlan, and that's why my description is so thorough, so I'll do the best I can for the rest of the county. T.J. Green will more than likely be taking snaps in Perry's offense, which from what everyone in town has said will be option based, similar to Middlesboro's. Running backs will include Bradley Howard, Shadow Westfelt, and Charlie .... (don't know the last name). With that talent back there, look to see a similar back field to that of Belfry's when David Jones ran the show. At receivers, its untelling. Bradley Howard was one of the main targets last season, but with his move to running back its untelling who Perry has for the spot (hopefully not John Cole). Rick Clem will be one of Green's main targets at the tight end possition. The front five will be powered by two returning starters from last season: Royal Bargo, and Jamie Ball, both are very big kids. EVARTS: The term shocker is being overused, so we'll say this could be a year for Canady comparable to his 2005 run. After seeing his offense in 7 on 7's, it appears as if Evarts will be a shotgun team this year!!??!! (They ran it well in the 7 on 7's). Derek Cochran will be the starting QB for the wildcats, and Trevor ... and Clifton Robbins will be carrying ball, along with Jimmy Langly. Robbins will more than likely play the fullback possition (deadlifted 600lbs in a recent lifting meet!) The front five is unknown to me. James Shephard will be the main hog up front, on both sides of the ball. Receivers will include Derek White and probably Jimmy Langly. Replacing Adam Helton and Jimmy Pike will be the struggle for Ovie this season, but, Canady always has talent unheard of until the season starts. CUMBERLAND: This is the team I know least about. Some local "hear-say" caught my attention the other day, and it said that Zach Blanton won't be playing this season. If so, I have no idea who Reynolds? would find for a QB. Junior Nathaniel Gilliam had an outstanding season last year, so I find myself expecting him to be the Redskin's main weapon next season. Josh Jones and Jonathan Fields and William Marshall will be part of Cumberland's HUGE front five next year. Also, transfer Shaquiell Clark? will also be a part of the team from what I've heared. Once again, I appologize for not having a thorough analysis of each county team. I do what I can. However, espionoge might be used to provide you all with more info.:thumb:
  13. My appoligies, I suppose people like me are the reason we now have spell check on our computers.
  14. Pray heavily, do some rain dances, and recruit players with the talent of Tim Tebow or Walter Peyton.
  15. Yes sir..some of the players are residing in either Odie's gym or Castleton's, also check the roads in harlan, i'm sure most of the team is running.
  16. How do you all predict the Harlan v.s. PCC match up? Who comes out on top?
  17. Well down here in the southern part of the state whenever the Green Dragons face off against Cawood, Evarts, or Cumberland, there's always a crowd well over 500, which is good size considering there's only around 3,000 people in harlan. However, the biggest rivalry has to be between Harlan and Cumberland, or back in the day Harlan and Lynch.
  18. Yes! It better be menthol atleast! Haha, "just give me some cigarettes and lolli-pops and i'll make it" -Tim Noe.
  19. Now Moutain, you know the football program could use a guy who loves the game like you sitting behind the desk in High School. I had heared the "Legendary" David Evans was a possible choice for the position, but that's just hearsay. Also, I think "The Brain" would be a wonderful candidate as well. QB: Who's ACT score is higher? ha!
  20. Oh yes! That would be nice, some rubber all over the floor, couple of powerclean stations here and there, or maybe just a brand new lockeroom "complex" would be nice. There's nothing better than the Green Dragon Field, with the voice of David Luellin Davies in the Friday-Night Sky.
  21. The 7 on 7 went well, Chase Jones looked great, i think only threw one int. and that was on a messed up route. Allen Hensley showed the most improvement and made some amazing catches on offense as well as some nice int's on defense. As expected, Bell Co. also looked great. Shaunte Zachary and Kyle Nelson should pose a threat to most mountain teams this year.
  22. Indeed Mountain Pride! Our facilities are very nice for our very limited budget. Also, the addition of the crushed tire material that will be added to the field this season will make the playing field that much nicer. Now all we need is an indoor practice facility! (Wishful thinking.)
