Pikevilles Schedule is missing 2 games. Oct 5 @ South Floyd Oct 12 Prestonsburg at Pikeville.\ Also they show the Pike Co. Bowl game against Lou. Holy Cross on Aug. 25 @ Belfry. The date is right but the game is @ Pikeville.

If I was Coach J I wouldnt want it. I realize and understand why he applied for the job but it would leave our program here in Pikeville in a serious bind if he took it now and we were without a coach going into dead period. Hendo should just cut theyre losses and hire an interim coach for this year. Then start from scratch after the season. Coach Cobb is a good guy and well respected state wide. IMO theyre are 2 scenerios as to why he pulled a "Billy D". He either A) Had been at Somerset so long and had so much invested emotionaly in the school, the team, and the community that he couldnt bear the thought of leaving it after he really thought about it. That would be my guess. Or B) He saw what he was up against at Hendo and realized he made a bad mistake and got out while the "Gittin was Good". Everybody keeps screaming about Hendos numbers. But, Ill give you a perfect example of why numbers arent everything. Under the old 4 class system Magoffin Co. had the biggest enrollment in 2a. No offense to any Hornets fans on here but what have they done in Football? Unfortunately nothing. So, in short, enrollment numbers are important but they arent everything.

Thats me. The only 2 things I boo are high school refs and Jeff Gordon LOL!

This is the only way you get better. I remember playing under Hillard Howard and our practices going on for 4 or five hours and nobody seemed to have a problem with it. If these parents are ticked off cause theyre "little babies" are being worked too hard then maybe they should not let them play. We have had a few players quit this year who IMO were playing to see what the program could do for THEM instead of what THEY could do for the program. These players showed by thyre actions that they either dont have what it takes to play this game, or theyre too lazy and selfish to use the talents they have for the betterment of the TEAM. As far as the parents here go. The vast majority are good folks who care about the program and want to see it do good. But, as at any other school. Youve always got a few idiots out there who dont care if the team wins or not as long as "theyre boy" is the star.

Is theyre some folks jilted by Coach J wanting to leave. Sure theyre are. Just like there would be at any other school where the Coach is looking elsewhere. Ill admit I was disappointed when I first heard the news that he was looking to leave but I personally wouldnt read anything into it. From what Ive been told. Coach J pretty much applied for the job to appease his wife cause she is from the area. I cant blame them for wanting to get closer to home. I lived 7 years in Ohio and jumped at the chance to come back home when the oppurtunity came about. Coach J and his wife are fine folks and I think highly of both of them. I just hope all this blows over and we can get back to focusing on PHS football again.

Im not A 24 or 48 fan by any means and never will be. Im not happy about the move to HMS but I dont blame JR one bit for doing it. You dont have to root for Jeffy and Jimmie to be a JR fan. This logic is messed up. I dont like Harvick or Stewart. Does that mean if JR went to RCR or Gibbs that I couldnt root for him? JR will do great things at HMS and everyone will see how great a driver he is when the proper equipment and personel are put with him.

Being that hes won twice as many races as Kyle has in 20 years less time I think only uneducated folks like you will say that about him.

Hendrick has not been too pleased with kyle of late with all his temper tantrums. According to Jayski.com Kyle and JR might be swapping rides.

Pikeville vs Belfry is a big one in the eastern part of the state. The atmosphere at that game is usually wild for highschool football.

For Pikeville its simple, Leadership, Leadership,Leadership Graduated some great leaders last year. Have some kids who IMO could be great leaders if they choose to be( heres a hint to all the panther fans on here theres 2 of them and they look just like each other lol). Team leadership is going to be a must with all the speculation swirling around about Coach J may or may not be leaving. Leadership IMO is the decinding factor as to whether we go west in december or not if you know what I mean.

If it were only up to JR and RC I would agree with you. But the only problem is that its not going to be entirely up to those 2. If Bud, Wrangler, and Chevy tell JR and RC that THEY want JR in that 3 car then JR and RC would have no choice but to do it or they would risk losing them as sponsors. The only way I see JR not getting in the 3 next year is if RC and Teresa swap numbers with Teresa getting the rights to the number 3 for marketing purposes and RC getting the 8. I dont think RC will do that. You gotta understand that this is big BUISNESS now with multibillion $ companies involved. These companies have Millions of $ invested in JR and they know how much money and media exposure can be had if JR gets in that 3 car.

I agree. Its my belief that we could hang with any 1a team in the state when these boys decide they want to play. Our schedule IMO will really help us get ready for playoff time. If the leadership ? can be answered and a few holes can be filled on the line IMO theyre is no limit as to how far we can go.

JR said hed have to do some "Soul Searchng" about whether or not he would be comfortable driving the 3 car. In professional sports terms that means "if the price is right Ill do it". Its very simple. Everyone from Richard Childress,JRs sponsors(Bud and Wrangler especially),the vast majority of fans,TV networks, and if the truth was known, NASCAR want JR to drive that 3 car. When all those powerful forces want something 99.9% of the time they get it.

They told the same thing to Michael Waltrip and you see how thats working out for him. Toyota doesnt want to take the chance of taking a HUGE public relations hit if JR went there and didnt make even one race. That would be a PR disaster for Toyota, NASCAR, and JR.

Toyota VP of motorsports announced 2 weeks ago that they would not pursue JR.

Yes Bud did sponsor the 25 at one time but the reason they left the 25 and went to DEI is that the 25 wasnt running up to par with the other HM teams. JR stated more than once that it was his intentions to sign with a top tier team if possible and although the 25 is a "Hendrick" car it hasnt run competitve since Tim Richmond died 20 years ago. I dont think Bud will want JR to drive that car.

Childress or Gibbs is where JR will go IMO. Hendrick already has 4 teams and Nascar wont let an owner have 5 anymore. Casey Mears just signed with HM this year and to be honest, even if they could get rid of Mears. I dont think JR would be interested in driving the 25 car. That car doesnt get the attention that the 24,48,and 5 get and nobody has ever been able to win consistently with it. JR says he wont drive the 3 but if Childress,Goodwrench and Bud throw enough money at him, he will drive it. Something Jr said in the press conference kinda made me think. He said that at 32 years old he was at the same age his father was when SR. made "the most important decision of his driving career". Of course he was talking about when SR went to RCR.

Maybe not Petty but definitley Pearsons mark of 105 would have been reachable.

Put Earnhardt in the equiptment Gordon has drove for his whole career and Big E wouldve probably been going after Pettys record or at least Pearsons mark anyway. Im not slighting Gordon Im just saying that Earnhardt drove some junk cars the first 5 or 6 years of his career before he got hooked up with Childress.

Its just like DW said a few years ago, the descision of when and where cautions are thrown is just like ball and strike calls. Some are going to agree and some arent. If NASCAR had thrown the caution as soon as the #00 blew up. Then everyone would be saying NASCAR wanted to give the race to Mcmurray, cause theyre partial to Roush Racing or they didnt want Gordan to break Dale Srs record at essentialy his home track. Im not any happier about the one guy I didnt want to see surpass any record that Dale set than the rest of you. But, I knew it was gonna happen sonner or later.

I get so sick of all the conspiracy theorists out there. Im not a Gordon fan by any strech of the imgination(my sons middle name is Dale if that tells you anything lol!) but gimmie a break! If you think that NASCAR is rigged and whoever wins is who THEY want to win then why are you watching it?

Josh Mullins and Houston Mcanallen CBs for Pikeville. Good speed in coverage and both are agressive against the run. Chaz Jackson is a safety hes a good one as well.

The Belfry/Pikeville game will be another classic next year IMO. It was the best game in this part of the state in 06 IMO.
