  1. Things like this should remind us all (me especially) that life is so precious and could be gone in the twinkling of an eye. It should teach us all (me especially) that some of the things that we all(me especially) get so bent out of shape about on here and in life in general is so trivial and doesnt amount to a hill of beans when compared to something like this. I pray that the LORD JESUS wrap his arms around this boy and shelter his heart broken family with the kind of comfort that only HE can provide. Im sure I speak I for all of Pikeville as well.
  2. Being a Pikeville boy I hate to admit but youre absolutely right. Theyre has been a serious deficiency of up front strength at Pikeville since the late 90s. But they have worked hard to fix that this off season, Id like to see them play NCC this year and cant wait to watch them play Belfry this year.
  3. No but you have to be willing to look someone in the eyes to defend it. My point is whether you like this system or dont there are HS football playing kids who read the threads on this site and IMO it would be an absolute SHAME if even one of these kids who are BLESSED with the oppurtunity to win a state title under ANY system come away feeling the least bit inadequate about the experience because of what some people who either A} never played the game or B] theyre playing days are long over said about the title he and his teamates just worked theyre guts out to get. That would be a complete travesty.
  4. Id take him at UK in a heartbeat cause its impossible he can be any worse than some of the QBs we have now. Id much rather have a smart QB with a little bit of athletic ability than a QB with great physical tools and not the faintest clue how to use them.
  5. Pikeville will move up before the seasons over.
  6. Man I bet that would be cool with the bob segar tune, Ive alwys loved that song anyway. They always played "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent before our games here in Pikeville when I played. Now they play "Thunderstruck" and "In the air tonight" by Phil Collins( I didnt like it at first but its pretty cool when you listen to the words.)
  7. I already did but Ill explain it even further. If youre not willing to go out on the field and tell those kids that the feat they accomplished doesnt mean anything then you have no right to come on here anonimously and complain about how 6 classes is the end of the world as we know it. Cause chances are you and everyone else on here whining will be no less excited if the team you root for is fortunate enough to win state. So in the end you have no leg to stand on and thats why you wouldnt answer my ?
  8. OK then why dont you just answer it then.
  9. My favorites when I played were One-Metallica War Ensemble-Slayer
  10. Well its going to happen whether any one of us want it to or not, If you dont want to see it then quit going to games Im sure youll be sorely missed.
  11. Or is it if you answered it it would destroy youre entire arguement and YOU know it?
  12. Last year Cawood over here in east KY were 1-9 and got a 4 seed thats not not much better than 0-10 so if that exact instance hasnt happened its not been far off. Ive said all along that if we went to 6 classes they should go back to only 2 playoff reps from each district. I dont like the current 4 team format cause theyre are too many blowouts and not enough upsets in the first round when #1 plays #4 to justify it.
  13. Its not about YOU or me or us as fans its about the kids and as ridiculous as you think my qusetion is you still didnt have the guts to answer it. Theyre are things that I disagree with in this proposal and I have a right just like you do and I respect yours and everyone elses right to disagree with it as well. When the smallest state in the union(wyoming) has 5 classes and Mississippi, which is smaller population wise than KY has 8 classes and with the disparity in numbers from the smallest school to the largest school in each class that we have something needs to change. Did the KHSAA go a little overboard?: time will tell, but Im going to keep an open mind and give it a chance instead of automatically reject it before I ever see the first season of it.
  14. I agree 100%. I pose an open question to all these people who are complaining about the competition being watered down. When and If youre school ever makes it to Louisville and wins a state title are YOU going to be the one to run out on the field to remind these kids who just played theyre hearts out that that trophy theyre holding isnt as important as it used to be? My guess is no. Cause you know youd probably get wore out on the 50 yard line in front 50,000 people and it would be well deserved I might add.
  15. I thought about going Im glad I didnt now.
  16. Coach J and the rest of this staff have IMO brought this program into the 21st century. So many programs in football(college, pro, high school,ETC.) that have had success in the past kind of get stuck in a rut trying to do what they know that has worked in the past but it gets to a point where it isnt working anymore for whatever the reason. McNamee was a Hillard Howard disciple and wanted to run the same type of power running offense, the only problem was that for whatever reason the big horses you need up front to run that offense were no longer there and it showed when we played Beechwood and Belfry and any other school that was worth a lick. Fans this year wont see as much of the trickery as last year, but the offense will be like that similar to what WVU and Texas ran last year. As far as the off season workouts go I need to look no further than my brother who has put on 40 pounds of muscle since Christmas. Coach J and his staff have made a believer out of me. I do believe it wont be long before were in Louisville on the first weekend in December again.
  17. I dont like the idea of 4 teams making the playoffs, but Ive never like that under any system.
  18. I believe this puts everyone on more equal footing, this also puts teams in the actual classes they belong in and not "cherry picking" in a smaller class.
  19. Id just like to see some of these dopes on here doing all the whining when theyre team wins state. I wonder what theyll do will they A.] Rush on to the field and remind the kids that this doesnt mean anything, that they are fictional champs in a watered down class. OR B.] Rush on to the field and scream WERE #1 and join the rest of his school singing the school fight song. My guess is B.
  20. If most folks pay attention its the schools that had to move into an upper class that are doing most of the whining. I have the utmost respect for coach Cobb, I played for him when he was at Shelby Valley and before I tranferred to Pikeville. This is a free country and he is entitled to his opinion but its not going to change anything and if he focuses on the negative it might hurt his team. Coach Cobb is a winner not a whiner. So he should focus on getting his team ready for the season. I mean no disrespect to the Somerset fans but I too am entitled to my opinion.
  21. I agree with what youre saying but this thread isnt the place, theyre will be plenty of time later for if and buts and what ifs but right now aint the time.
  22. I agree 100% it puts this whole 6a thing in the proper perspective under the "Its not that big of a deal" department.
  23. Im sure I speak for everyone here in Pikeville when I say May the GOD of all glory be with the young man and comfort his greiving family.
  24. I dont know I havent heard, but IMO it would only be fair to those teams on the border line like Pikeville is in this scenario.
  25. I agree Id love to see some out of state teams in the PCB, and with Pike Co. bordering 2 states that have some dang good football teams on the other side of those borders should be something the folks at community trust bank and WYMT should look at.
