I think I would agree with XrockDad...there definitely is some chemistry across the O-line....I believe if you would ask the five that stand side by side they would agree....has to be lots of communication...starts with the Center and extends out from there....with that being said the Rocks have able bodies to fill the holes left by last years graduation....but it may take a game or two before there all pulling in the same direction. This years team will be fun to watch.... Go Rocks!

WOW....my son and I are on a trip in Wyoming and have learned the news of Dave's passing.....this is a big blow to all that knew him. I had the pleasure of interacting with him these last few years at many, many Trinity football practices and games.....he was fiercely loyal to the Green and White....but at the same time was respectful of other teams and their talents.....although that may not have come across at times in his passionate dissertations. Not only did he support Trinity football but as many know Dave could be seen at almost any Trinity sports event. Football probably sat on top of the heap as we was an ex player who would have proably gladly strapped it up one more time given the chance. You would always find him walking the sidewalk at the old practice field or hanging on the fence at Marshall Stadium....he was at almost every single practice greeting the players as they came off of the field and many knew him as "Big Dave"....one of their single biggest fans. RIP...Dave...we'll miss you....you may be physically gone but your spirit and passion will live on in the Trinity community forever!

Trinity has some low key tailgating most games....often times by the same core group of people.....food was set up on folding tables.....on occasion for colder games a heater and tent were set up...trash was always picked up and the parking lot asphalt was left untarnished. Some of the students listened to music and played the corn hole game. There was never an issue raised by school officials and not the group ever gave them any reason execute a "cease and desist" order.

Congrats to Dane Spoekler (Centre), Kyle Flynn (Georgetown), Nick Petrino (Georgetown) of Trinity on their college choices....it was fun watching you guys play over the last four years. Additonally congratulations to Nick Hobbs (Centre) and Nick Melillo (Lindenwood University) two more solid contributors to the Rocks Football program! Best of luck and continued success in your college careers! My apologies if I missed anyone else......

Westsider a point of clarification to your post "Reload with another 40something-player senior class." In 2006 Trinity had a total of 27 Seniors.....12 of which were starters or saw significant playing time....2 additional players listed on roster participated in the role of manager or trainer.....making the number that participated as a player 25 Additionally in 2006 there were 35 Juniors on the roster ..of which 3 participated in the role of manager or trainer.....of the 32 that participated as players 9 were starters or saw significant playing time My son's freshman class had a roster of I believe it was 102 +/- one or two players. Throughout the course of four years there is a lot of attrition and the average Senior class over the past 4 years has averaged right at 25% of what they started with.....and if I had to guess there will be something less then 35 Seniors (Juniors in '06) this year in 2007. While your point infers that it's all about numbers (don't totally disagree as they obviously are an asset) just because they show up as Seniors does not guarantee a winning season, program, etc. There are a lot of other things that go into that besides what your Senior roster looks like.....but that's for another thread...just wanted to clarify the numbers you randomly threw out.

"I don't think the passing game's issues lie with just the receviers, Trinity's line is smaller than in the past." I don't think this is as much it as that they have not totally adjusted to the new offensive scheme that they are running. Also, still some movement on the line...another new starter at Right Guard vs. Manual. I believe the backs and receivers are relied on a little more for blocking as well and have not all quite figured out their roles as of yet. I took a look at the '04, '05 and current '06 line....the biggest difference was the '04 line on average was 20 lbs heavier...Mike Clarks 280 at the RT and Brian Coxon's 275 at RG...believe I have those two positions correct....influenced the averages quite a bit.... CamFieldJunky the Trinity vs Manual game is usually a pretty good rivalary. This game is at Trinity which is a very nice facility and a great high school football atmosphere. A great place to spend a Friday night.

the O-line had only played in that configuration for three days....M - W, Th was walk throughs....2 of 5 playing where they did last year, 1 from last year playing a new spot and the other 2 positions being contended for....they will figure it out....both the coaches and players....these all are pretty talented kids that would be welcomed by any staff in the state....

How about the mouthpiece being attached to the helmet? Heard that was a change for 2006.....I see color of the mouthpiece is addressed but not whether it is attached to the helmet or not.....

in an attempt to clear up the "Brohm Debate" - why he is listed and other's were not, i.e. Quinn, etc. it states in the opening of the article this: "So in honor of football's marquee position and the fact that this year's high school quarterback class is absolutely loaded, we have ranked the Top 25 HIGH SCHOOL signal callers of the past three decades. When compiling this list, we looked primarily at high school accomplishments, but post-prep success also weighed into our choices."

Leinart is ranked # 20 and Quinn did not make the Top 25. This is from a Sporting News publication. I bought the last copy at Barnes & Noble in Springhurst......Books-A-Million on Breckinridge had a few copies left last night or you can order on line at the Sporting News website....just Google "Sporting News"

According to Sporting News 2006 High School Football publication the Trinity Shamrocks have been ranked 27th in the Nation. They also received a nice write up including 2005 record, Coach info, Key Players, Biggest Strength and Question Mark...and a 2006 Outlook overview. In a Regional ranking (Midwest) they are ranked 6th with Louisville Male ranked 16th. Individually Chase Minnifield (DB) from Henry Clay was listed as 41st in the Midwest Region Top 100 recruits. Chase Dumphord (OL) from Paris,KY is listed 53rd. Victor Anderson (RB) from Louisville St. X was listed 84th, Doug Beaumont(WR) of Louisville Male is listed 87th and Brent Slusher (OL)from Bell County is number 100.Midwest Region. Additionally Brian Brohm is listed 23rd out of 25 as one of the Top 25 Quarterbacks of the Modern Era......Elway #1, Marino #2, Manning #3

At this weeks Rocks Football kick-off picnic and player introductions Coach McGuire indicated they would have right at a 100 when a few that are still playing summer baseball join the team .

First game for T is at 11:00...will be 5 or 6 light on D for this first game due to ACT test tomorrow morning. :thumb:

There are logical Rocks fans out there , they are just not the one's on this board “ You guys are forgetting one important thing in your previous posts…..these fans/alumni you say were the “doubters” weren’t on the field…..it was the players….and they weren’t doubting, scared or anything else…matter of fact when they should have gotten scared…after the initial X touchdown and FAILED point after they actually became stronger…..you can say what you want but when it counted most they got it done.

The Championship Rings are not paid for by the THS. It is an optional purchase, designed by representatives of the school and ordered through Balfour. They are payed for by the athlete...or I would imagine in most cases by the athletes parents......then worked off by digging holes, cutting grass, carrying out trash, washing cars and whatever else I can think of to recoup my "investment".
