A revelation that was getting more and more talk lately. Things have changed all of a sudden. Just when people were getting ready for us, some more wrinkles and "shifts" if you would have come around. Coach Coverdale is one of the smartest football minds that I have ever seen, and I wonder if any of you can guess who the next head dog in Shamrock City would be now.

*on a side note....while we celebrate is return in the box.....he just strengthened the teaching staff as well, as he is a cherished asset in the classroom as well.

What does he teach?

I'll take your word for it, because I don't know that man at all, but then what was the problem at Castle (Indiana 5A school)? I believe he was the Head Coach there for the previous three seasons, correct? His overall record was only 16-17. His record in the Southern Indiana Athletic Conference over that same time was 10-11. For comparrison their record in the SIAC over the previous 5 years was 29-6. It's not like he went to a school that didn't have a great football tradition. Maybe he just never was a good fit I don't know, but from what I have heard, I don't think that the boosters will be too upset to see him go.

Congratulations Trinity fans, I know from reading BGP that many of you were hopeful for his return to THS.

Congrats to Coach Coverdale. I don't think any of next years players had a chance to play or really know Coverdale. They are in for a treat. Again, welcome back Coach.........

Trinity just got a lot tougher to beat! He is an offensive guru!!

I think Cov is going to teach history at T.

I think Cov is going to teach history at T.

He is, and this is coming from someone who majored in History and Secondary Education, he is an amazing teacher! I have seen few teachers outside of two others at Trinity and Dr. Mahoney at Bellarmine who have amazed me with their knowledge the way he did.

Trinity is getting an amazing OC back but even more importantly they are getting an incredible teacher back.

I heard that this news made the broadcast of the six o'clock news. Pretty big coverage for an assistant coach hiring. But then, Coach Cov isn't your average hire. Afterall, he is an LSU man.:thumb:

^ I bet it makes the paper as well.....

For those that doubt Coach Coverdale, relax and watch how he dismantles people, with his mind. I know Bobby Redman just said some curse words. Cov's offense is designed to destroy Male's defense.....Man, I am so excited. If any of you Trinity supporters don't KNOW Cov, get to, it's worth every minute, and then some.

Was he the OC with Brohm and Co?

He was the OC through Brian's junior year.

He was the OC for the incredible 59-56 game in the finals against Male.

I'm honestly not trying to make anybody mad, but I'm just seriously wondering why Coach Coverdale was not successful at Castle. I remember their being a lot of anticipation when he was hired. Does anyone have informaiton on the situaiton.

I see comments on here about him being an offensive guru, and that he is going to destory Male, etc. But where was this offense while at Castle.

Under Coach Coverdale they were 16-17 and averaged 21.1 pts. per game. The previous 5 years they were 47-11 and averaged 31.4 pts. per game.

We've seen at the college ranks (especially basketball) lately how tough it is to replace a legend. Was that part of the problem? John Lidy had been the head coach since 1973, winning over 65% of his games, and 2 State Championships.

Castle has traditionally been a smash mouth football team, I'm not sure the boosters, welcomed the implementation of a passing attack. Did Coach Coverdale face resistence to implementing his schemes?

Or is it a case of a guy who is a great assistant or coordinator, but just doesnt' handle being a head coach. We've seen several examples of this at the NFL level.

Surely one of you Trinity guys has some insight as to the problem in Indiana.

^Not a good fit in Indiana. Great fit at Trinity.

BTW - no one said he is going to destroy Male. They are not on the schedule.
