  1. Nice win for the Vikings!
  2. Impressive win by the Royals!
  3. It is very hard to pick against Hampton this time of year. Raceland is at home though, and I feel that Floyd has some tricks up his sleeve, Ill take Raceland in a tight one.
  4. I believe this game will be much closer than most will probably call. If these young Devils can figure out how to finish, they may just walk off with the upset.
  5. Posts like these are my favorite part of BGP. You never know who will read a story like this, just when they need it most!
  6. Nice job Boone Co.! Any win against Ohio is great in my book, and the fact they are ranked, makes it even better!
  7. :thumb: I agree with the whole post, but would add the bolded part would still be tough if they make it there. Playing the late game Friday would have to show some effect in the second game Saturday. I do agree it may still be easier than the possible Saturday morning matchup. :thumb: This is an excellent post!
  8. GRC has been hit by the injury bug to its extreme all year. They keep on fighting through it all. They are not an easy out for anyone, however. Congrats to FC on the win. A quality win however you cut it. To the GRC faithfull, your team played tough against a team that IMO has been underated by most throughout out the year. Nothing to hang your heads over IMO!
  9. This cant look good for Campbell County's run at the tenth. But I have to tip my hat to Scott County. A very impressive showing heading in to post season!
  10. Although, this game may not be pretty, I for one have to tip my hat for the way these young devils have battled night in and night out. No matter what the results, true Russell fans have to be proud of this team and the district championship is not out of reach!
  11. At best in basketball, it would be a technical foul each time you added to the scorebook. I can see your point though.
  12. Though I agree with Malachicrunch, with every problem he is stating, there is another problem that comes into play. If the kid is good enough to play during MS, and you dont allow them the opportunity, they will go somewhere else. There are no rules in place to stop it, and I have seen it happen more times than I can count. This is either a KHSAA problem or a parent problem, depending on how you look at it. Coaches are cutting their throats if they dont play a player ready to help, and they should. I believe the issue is should the Khsaa step in, and the answer is yes. This issue definitely comes into play with girls basketball much more than boys, and this is also where the problems of different levels of maturity come into play.
  13. This seems to work in cycles, though winning makes a big difference on how long the cycle goes. Without going into details that may get me suspended, there is a reason why their student section got " reigned in." Students graduate however, and maybe its time to cut some slack and let the student fans be fans again.
  14. I agree as well, thats another reason why I feel it is hard to compare eras. If teams today could not palm the ball constantly and use the jump stop, it takes away alot of the advantages of athleticism. I feel these matchups often depend by the rules, or interpretation of the rules as they have changed, that they play by.
  15. I for one feel this is the best poll that ive seen. I believe the top 5 is dead on, its just a question where you put them. Scott Co. should be #1 due to consistent perfomance against a brutal schedule. I think the rest of the top 5 could be shuffled and I wouldnt argue. The only team IMO with a legitimate arguement outside of this is Jtown, and they are rated at #6.
  16. I agree with your analysis. I dont think it applies directly to the debate at hand though. If the 77 Ashland team was walking through the region it would apply greatly. I believe the major argument that he and others are making, is that athletes have become stronger over the years. This is why I try to stay away from comparing teams or players from different eras. I feel they must be judged by how they compared to the era they played in.
  17. I am one of the biggest proponents of that fact. This poll doesnt look that bad except for the fact that Holmes is definitely rated too low. I believe it you slid them up, wherever any individual would want to put them, it looks much better. This is not sarcasm, they are definitely too low.
  18. I think this is a great idea! Maybe during your basketball banquet this year?
  19. :thumb: Excellent post!
  20. Thats why I said I ramble too much!
  21. :thumb: More like, genius-student-athlete!
  22. Im sure he couldn't. Many great athletes from today could not step back in that era and be as effective due to the way the game was called and played. I like to judge the best ever in any sport by how they dominated their era. There is no question that athleticism overall, has grown tremendously over the years in all sports.
  23. That would be King Kelly Coleman.
  24. :thumb: They are heading into post season that way, and thats when it matters.
