Denton sat out tonight. He's not hurt just giving him some rest since he will be called upon next week at Putnam Stadium on both sides of the ball. His knee is 100%. The Rams coaching staff wanted to get several kids some looks tonight. Jr. Thomas Watson caught a nice TD pass from Boyles, and Brian Tolliver looked really good tonight. He might have had the best tackle of the evening as well. Rams 1st string defense didn't allow a first down. Lewis Co. scored on a kick return on the 2nd team and punched one offensive TD in on the freshman team with less than a minute remaining. The Rams could have a nice year if they keep working hard in practice and listen to the coaches. I don't think their is a harder working more experienced staff around and I believe that if the team will remain coachable the Rams will be a hard team to beat in the playoffs. P.S. Jacob Sparks with a nice TD grab from Boyles as well tonight. He also kicked several touchbacks as well.

Rowan is extremely quick. IMO they are better than they were last season.Rowan is fundamental and well coached. Raceland fought hard and made Rowan earn some rally points.

Not to mention his character, he is a tremendous person and an excellent coach.

I think it would be Coach Morris , but just to throw another name out, how about Coach Jones, long long time assistant and the current offensive coordinator.

Wow this is an incredible turn of events just prior to the start of practice. These things don't just happen, the administration has probably been spinning this around since May. Good call on the story from the "Boss", a true orange blood that really does have insight!:sssh:

Morgan Co. will be very tough in the 16th. It seems as though all teams in the 16th, return 3 or more starters from last season. Coach Adkins at Russell will have his team being very powerful with Gill, and Ashland returns 4 starters as well. East Carter returns 5 starters and Boyd Co. returns all six. Rose Hill returns a handful as well. I have been told that the 16th is as tough as it has been in a while. Raceland returns 3 starters plus the libero. Fairview returns 5 starters as well. The 6 teams in last years region all return alot of key players. Russell,Rowan Co., Raceland, Ashland, Morgan Co., Lawrence Co. moves to the 15th, and Bath Co. with a new team moves to the 16th. Morgan Co. with Eagle and co should be the favorite, but East will be very good and so will Rowan Co., The 59th district Greenup Co. returns 4 starters and has a new coach. It will be a very competitive region top to bottom. Russell and Raceland will have to have some role players off last seasons team to really step up. Gill for Russell is really good the loss of Adkins and Okoro will be big,Raceland with the loss of Kylie Fannin, Jamie Fannin, and Natasha Massie, look for big seasons from Jesse Clark, Chelsea Loperfido, Kyra Bonzo, Paige Vanhoose, and Kala Blevins for Raceland, Greenup Co. returns the Loan sisters and now Lewis Co. in the district who knows this will be a very good district. The 60th district is probably the best with Rose Hill, Ashland, Boyd Co., and Fairview all could be in the top 5 of the region. East, Morgan, and Rowan is an excellent district as well. West Carter had some big improvements as well. It is anyone's region but Morgan Co. is my early favorite. Mogan Co. knocked out Raceland and Ashland last season to advance to the finals in 2 close matches. I believe the Cougars, and Boyd Co. are the only team to return all 6 starters. These teams will be very good.

Blue Blazer will be in attendance, and so will UKCATSFAN!!! I'm also hoping for a big night for the KY All-Stars!!!!!!!

Seeding district tournaments doesn't make much sense unless you think that the top 8 teams are divided evenly in the 4 districts. If you want to seed, seed the entire region at the end of the season and play it out NCAA style. If not, pick the pill and quit complaining.

I wonder if Coach Sutton, and Coach Smith will continue to work with the program? IMO last seaon they were thrown to the Lions I know that Coach Sutton who was named interim is an outstanding coach and and Greenup Co. should feel very fortunate to have his services. He played his heart out for Greenup Co., and he coaches with the same passion. He loves Greenup Co. and I would think the "community" would want to keep him around.

I also heard that Coach Hampton is staying at Lewis Co. Congratulations to the Lions if this is true they get to keep one terrific coach!

Bobby McKee pitched 5 2/3 inning 6 SO. Brian Caudill 7th grader closed them out with a SO. McKee hit a HR to Right Center (9th Grader). Justin Ratcliff hit a 3 run shot to left field. (8th grader) Rams did a great job at the plate and only committed 1 error. JV beat East Carter 16-6, and their record is now 10-6.

Raceland mercy rule win over Ashland 11-1. Raceland's last loss was at Russell 4-3, in which the Rams out hit the Devils 13-4, That loss has put the Rams on a 7 game win streak.

Rams get a win against the Greg Logan coached Musketeers! Scott Grizzle goes the complete game giving up 4 hits. Key stat Rams had 3 errors and the Muskies committed 5!:eek: Rams out hit, out fielded, and out scored Greenup Co. tonight. 7 wins in a row,and they now stand at 15-6 for the season. Coach Vanderhoof (Hall of Fame 2004) seems to be making some great calls. Nice to see a D-1 college coach in the stands watching a Ram play tonight. Rams also got a couple of poor calls that took at least 1 run off the board tonight.

In 93-94 Coach Johnson won the district title vs. Russell. The Rams were 23-9 that season . We had alot of players step up huge but Charlie Pack now a coach at Leslie Co. hit a huge 3 in the 4th to spark the big run. The Rams won going away by 12. Coach Johnson also won the All A in 94, 97, and 01. At All A state his record was 2-3. He was an assistant on the All A Region Championship in 1991.

Coach Johnson will be stepping down from the Ram Basketball program to take a Central Office Position in the Raceland - Worthington School District. Coach Johnson has meant so much to the young men of Raceland throughout his 13 year tenure as the Head Boy's varsity coach. I was honored to play for him and he will always be a special person for all the qualities he represented and taught us as both players and as young men. The next coach will have big shoes to fill. Coach Johnson brought pride into a program with little success and turned it into a competitive program in the 16th region. He ran the program the right way and moved on, on his own terms. We at Raceland were extremely honored and privileged to have a terrific coach build our program into what it is today.

Baker's son on the sideline may be a sticking point for some. Darryl has been away from the high school game for several years in favor of the college game.(at least 10-15) Does he still plan to work college games? Might be hard to get out and watch our officials if he's working another game. What kind of pay is this position? Appears to be a little political jockeying going on in the 16th among administrators.

Joe would do a fine job but if he does get the job...we lose a quality official. Personally I would prefer him on the court instead of in the bleachers. I think Darryl Smith (former 16th official) and Charles Baker (former 16th coach) are the others being interviewed.

Going against the odds in this one. Elliott Co. is 0-2 outside the 16th region this season but I'll the Lions in a close one!

:Congratulations to Elliott Co. , Russell seniors you have nothing to hang your head about 1st State Tourney appearance in 30 some years and followed up with your Rupp trip with 26 wins this season. 3 District Titles in 4 years y'all will have some very fond memories of your high school basketball careers!
