Your new 16'th Region Baseball Poll

Featured Replies

My opinion rating the teams of the 16th region as of 4-30-07. What do you think?

1. Boyd County

2. Greenup County

3. Raceland

4. Rowan

5. Russell

6. East Carter

7. Lewis County

8. Fairview

9. Ashland

10. Bath County

11. Morgan County

12. Rose Hill

13. West Carter

14. Fleming County

15. Elliot County

16. Menifee County

Rowan is a nice team that may get a little underated sometimes due to the fact they are not located close to most of the schools in the region. I think you were right to have them rated as high as they are. Until someone steps up and proves they can beat Boyd it does not matter who is 2nd or 16th for that matter. I feel 2-9 could be interchanged at any given time depending who is on the hill.

64th Boyd,Fairview,Ashland,Rose Hill

63rd Greenup,Raceland,Russell,Lewis

62nd East Carter,Morgan,West Carter,Elliott

61st Rowan,Bath,Fleming,Menifee

The thing about the 16th, other than Boyd Co that I've noticed this year is they seem to be very inconsistent. I'll just use Ashland, Russell and Raceland as examples. Raceland has lost to Russell twice, Russell has lost to Ashland twice...Does that mean Ashland should be ranked 3rd? No, not what I am saying...It appears that these teams do not show up everyday. I've seen all three of the teams above look like Regional contenders one day and then look very much like a JV team the next....

Anybody else see it?

It seems all the teams in the area are all up and down a lot one day really look good the next makes you wonder what has happened. A lot of the area teams makes a lot of mental mistakes but the main thing is that they learn and continue to improve. I've been trashed a lot lately about saying the same things but from what I've read so far glad to see the RAMS step it up a lot since I've made my comments, if that is what it took, me being trashed to help the RAMS play better it was definately worth it, after beating GREENUP which 007 has rated 2, makes what I have said look a lot better.

Raceland mercy rule win over Ashland 11-1. Raceland's last loss was at Russell 4-3, in which the Rams out hit the Devils 13-4, That loss has put the Rams on a 7 game win streak.

Yes. Raceland and Boyd play friday at B.C.

This region is Boyd's to lose, and not to sound too confident, but when it comes to tournament time, the only team to beat Boyd will be Boyd themselves. Other than that, it seems as though alot of the teams in the region are young, and Boyd will be in that category next season. The playing field may just level out next season.

The rankings are for the fans. It means absolutely nothing come tournament time. When district tournament play begins you can toss each teams record out the window. It is a new season where coaches and teams show up with a different attitude than one displayed in the regular season.

I woud have to move Ashland up a bit considering their win over Boyd today.

Cville is 100% correct, rankings are fun to debate and talk over but it means absolutely"0". The teams have to come out EACH game and play or they will be watching the rest of them from the stands.

I also agree with kinglion in that the 16th is Boyds to lose and I believe that there are two or three others that are capable of beating them, not saying they will, just that there are others capable of winning the 16th region title.

I think it rediculus that east is in 6th. Someone apparently hasn't been doing their research. They have beaten greenup once, raceland twice, and killed russell. Try again

Top five should be:

1. Boyd

2. Greenup

3. East

4. Rowan

5 Raceland

I think it ridiculous that east is in 6th. Someone apparently hasn't been doing their research. They have beaten Greenup once, Raceland twice, and killed Russell. Try again
They've also lost to Morgan Co., Rowan Co. and Lewis Co.

Just his opinion and on any given night, the 16th is balanced.

It's al about pitching matchups. Now that I think about it East, Rowan, Greenup, and Raceland are pretty interchangeable at 2-5. I believe Russell and Ashland are a notch below, followed by Fairview, Morgan, Lewis and Bath.
