Bath beat East.

Raceland 36-6 late in the game.

Rowan 14-0.

Not sure on other games.

Nicholas defeated Fleming.

Raceland dominated Lewis Co. Lewis had some good players, they just did not have the personnel to play with Raceland. The first half was all starters, and Raceland lead at the half 36-0. The second half Raceland played JV and Freshmen and they contained Lewis, but Lewis did score twice in the second half.

I have to say that Raceland looked pretty sharp. Boyles made some very good decisions at QB, and threw some nice passes. WR played well, though there were some dropped balls that should have be caught. The Defense was the deciding factor though. Lewis only had two first downs in the first half, one coming on a penalty.

Carver had a rushing TD.

Sparks caught a TD pass from Boyles.

Kelly had a rushing TD.

Boyles had a rushing TD.

Sparks kicked a 35 yrd field Goal.

I can not remember who had the other TD.

Did anyone else play at QB other than T. Boyles?

Did anyone else play at QB other than T. Boyles?

Yea, I think everyone got a shot.

Cameron played several series' and threw a TD to someone (the one that I can not remember).

Farley played the last series, which was all freshmen on Raceland's side of the ball.

Ram how did Bret Denton play and how is the knee looking?

The knee is 100%, he looked really good last week against Lawrence Co/Fleming Co.

Usually in a case like that he will have to get past the "mental" aspect of it as well as the physical. Brett is a great kid wit great parents and he should be a VITAL part of thr Rambler attack this season.

I also want to add that Raceland has a great weapon in Jacob Sparks. He put all of his kickoffs in the end zone in the first half and kicked a 35 yrd field goal. Having a quality kicker is ofter overlooked, but we have been blessed yet again with a good kicker, and it is very nice.

Denton sat out tonight. He's not hurt just giving him some rest since he will be called upon next week at Putnam Stadium on both sides of the ball. His knee is 100%. The Rams coaching staff wanted to get several kids some looks tonight. Jr. Thomas Watson caught a nice TD pass from Boyles, and Brian Tolliver looked really good tonight. He might have had the best tackle of the evening as well. Rams 1st string defense didn't allow a first down. Lewis Co. scored on a kick return on the 2nd team and punched one offensive TD in on the freshman team with less than a minute remaining. The Rams could have a nice year if they keep working hard in practice and listen to the coaches. I don't think their is a harder working more experienced staff around and I believe that if the team will remain coachable the Rams will be a hard team to beat in the playoffs. P.S. Jacob Sparks with a nice TD grab from Boyles as well tonight. He also kicked several touchbacks as well.

:thumb: Great Post BB, that is what scrimmages are for - to take looks at different people and different sets. Randy (Coach Vanderhoof) rarely shows a lot in a scrimmage. Jacob Sparks has good size for a WR (6'5") with good speed. I believe and would be a very nice weapon if used as a reciever all season. JMO

This was a good scrimmage for the Rams. They had some success but also revealed some things that need work. I know these coaches will go to work this week with a game plan in mind and a focus on cleaning up a few things. The nice thing about going to Putnam to kick off the season is that emotion, and intensity is at an all-time high. I believe everyone is ready for the season, and two of the areas better programs square off in week one in a great place to watch a H.S. football game.

It will be a lot quieter around the track at Russell on Friday nights without the Blue Blazer.

Have to wait till week 10 to get some hot tomales.

Whatever will we do??
