Denton sat out tonight. He's not hurt just giving him some rest since he will be called upon next week at Putnam Stadium on both sides of the ball. His knee is 100%.

Your right Denton was chomping at the bit to play, but in the long run, it was a good idea for him to sit and be hungry for the season opener. He will be a force on both sides of the ball for every Raceland opponent this year.

The Rams coaching staff wanted to get several kids some looks tonight. Jr. Thomas Watson caught a nice TD pass from Boyles, and Brian Tolliver looked really good tonight. He might have had the best tackle of the evening as well.

This was a great move for the Raceland Coaching staff. Some of the more inexperienced players stepped up and showed some real promise for this season. Watson and Tolliver looked real good, and ready for some playing time this season. These two will add some weapons to the Raceland's explosive offense. That tackle by Tolliver was one of those were the entire crowd oohed and aahed at the same time.

Rams 1st string defense didn't allow a first down. Lewis Co. scored on a kick return on the 2nd team and punched one offensive TD in on the freshman team with less than a minute remaining. The Rams could have a nice year if they keep working hard in practice and listen to the coaches. I don't think their is a harder working more experienced staff around and I believe that if the team will remain coachable the Rams will be a hard team to beat in the playoffs.

Your right if the teams stays focused with what the coaches are teaching, they will go far. I saw and heard a lot of coaching of the younger guys and they seemed to be hungry and were listening and executing. If they keep that up should be a good season.

P.S. Jacob Sparks with a nice TD grab from Boyles as well tonight. He also kicked several touchbacks as well.

I personally think that Sparks could be a difference maker. If he continues to play at WR, watch out. A 6'5 receiver that can run and jump like a deer. I haven't seen to many 6'5 DB's on teams that we have played.

Also, as a kicker Sparks is a potent weapon. Touchbacks are invaluable. Not letting a team have an opportunity to put the ball in the hands of their best athlete in the open field can be a deciding factor. Plus, a field goal is always a possibility inside the 40. Sparks is really going to add to the team this year.

This was a good scrimmage for the Rams.

This was a good scrimmage for the Rams. They worked on a lot, and got some quality playing time for some players that could be a force this year. I feel much better about the season after this scrimmage. Raceland will have more weapons this year then I anticipated. Racealand is going to be very versatile. I hope these younger guys mature quickly and are ready to play fast.

They had some success but also revealed some things that need work. I know these coaches will go to work this week with a game plan in mind and a focus on cleaning up a few things.

The scrimmage did reveal some areas that need some work, which is what a scrimmage is for. If the players and coaching staff can work these areas out before Friday, Raceland should we in a good position. Like I said in a previous thread, Raceland will be a much improved team come mid-season, after they get some real game experience.

The nice thing about going to Putnam to kick off the season is that emotion, and intensity is at an all-time high. I believe everyone is ready for the season, and two of the areas better programs square off in week one in a great place to watch a H.S. football game.

I agree, I know everyone at Raceland is ready for the season. Last night's scrimmage was a great atmosphere for football. Raceland had a large crowd and they seemed ready for the season. I think this Friday will tell a lot about what Raceland will do this year, not win or loose, but show what kind of emotion and desire that Raceland will have. I am excited to see how much the Raceland players want to win and see what kind of desire they show. This will tell us something about the team.

Did Lewis County only dress 9 players or did I miscount?

Did Lewis County only dress 9 players or did I miscount?

I think it was 10.

But, seriously, I think I counted 25. I hope the coaching staff at Lewis Co. can create some excitement about the program to encourage more kids to play next year, I hate to see a program dwindle. Good luck to Lewis Co.

I do believe Cameron threw the TD to Sparks...

Boyles threw one to Watson and Tolliver and ran one in.
