Sources have confirmed that JOE HAMPTON will likely be named as the new Head Basketball Coach at Greenup County High School. The Musketeers are getting a very good coach and a great person.

Have heard the same thing NETS and I can't agree more. Joe is a class act and will do a fine job at Greenup! I am sure the folk at Lewis will miss him badly.

Joe Hampton got the name of Mr. March with his surprising upsets in district tournament and played well the regional tournament. He always took what many media thought was average to below average talent and made them winners and capable of beating anybody on any given night.

 

Coach Hampton was an assistant under Merle Kidwell at Lewis County for a while and became head coach after Kidwell left for Russell.

 

Hampton is very WELL respected among his colleagues, officials, and fans in general from all schools and will have the Musketeers back playing at MSU on a regular basis I believe.

If true, what a great choice for Greenup. One can only hope the powers that be will leave him alone and let him coach. There is no telling how far he can go with the talent pool at Greenup County compared to what he had to work with in a normal year at Lewis County. I will be very surprised he if he doesn't quickly become sick of the political games normally played at Greenup County, although I wish him the best. He is a great coach and a class act.

What kind of talent did Greenup have coming back? I know they lost Wolfenbarker.

I think they're meaning Coach Fite of Bracken County. I would understand if he goes back to Lewis County, cause that's were he's from and he was Girls Coach over there.

Coach Fite is an excellent coach and where he coaches does a great job!

Well, i advise you all attend the lewis VS greenup co game next year at lewis.

I am hearing that Hampton has formally resigned from his position at Lewis County.

Seems like a great choice to clear up the muddied water of the past. As said before , a class act. Will restore instant class to a program in desperate need of a proven coach. Here comes the green, black and gold !!!! LB
