Who is going to even win the district?

Nice assessment! I like Henry Clay at home. I think they win this one out of fear......that is, fear of having to play their nemesis, Bryan Station, in the first round of the district again. Henry Clay will guard the 3 point line and Scott County will have trouble getting to the rim with the Blue Devils tremendous length. Go Devils!

Bryan Station has some very versatile players who can interchange inside or outside. In fact, in the last 20 seconds of the game, Bryan Station brought their center Tyler Smith out away from the basket, and he took the Henry Clay center off the dribble to the basket for the game winner. It was a nice isolation and a good coaching move by Coach Allen. Bryan Station has good match ups versus the talented Henry Clay team. I can't wait to see the rematch! I am assuming there will be one. These two teams are very familar with each other and really go at it. Fun to watch!

I was looking forward to this one. Presently, both teams on nice winning streaks.

I have lots of good stories and fond memories of Kenny Roark. He was one of the few in Kentucky high school football ( are there any others?) who won a state championship both as a player and a coach. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Just received a text from a former teammate that Clay County football coach Kenny Roark is in UK Medical Center in critical condition. Word is that Kenny suffered a stroke. From the sounds of it, the big fella is in need of our prayers.

I see something unique in this Scott County team. This is not Billy Hick's most talented bunch. In fact, if you look at the entire roster top to bottom, it may be one of his least talented teams. However, this team has selfless players who a very willing defenders and it has outstanding chemistry. Everyone is on the same page and that makes for a big run at Rupp Arena next week. Say what you want about Billy Hicks, but the man is an outstanding basketball coach. He knows the game, he studies the game, he works very hard, and he comes up with a great game plan against each and every opponent. He very much understands match ups.....both offensively and defensively. His teams play to their strengths and when he gets a team with no off the court issues and no parents with selfish agendas, that buy into what he is preaching, it makes for a winning combination. Another 30 win season and another trip to the Sweet Sixteen. My hats off to Coach Billy Hicks and this edition of the Scott County Cardinals! It is a pleasure to watch them execute and play team ball.

Madison Central's guards are much too strong for Woodford County.

I see Madison Central as the team coming out of the 11th region this season. Allen Jr. does a nice job and they have good talent and a nice balance. Bryan Station's magic ran out.

I thought it was a poor call. Johnson hung on the rim because there were players on the floor under him. I must admit, I was looking around for a video board to see the replay, and, of course, there was not one. It is amazing to me that Woodford County beat Lexington Catholic with Jay Johnson playing on one leg. Why Jack Whitman didn't touch it every possession is very puzzling?

My understanding is that they had a pep rally at Bryan Station High School on Wednesday for this game. You could see it in the Bryan Station and Coach Mike Allen's eyes last night that they really wanted this game. Surprised? No. Remember, these kids are very familiar with each other since many of them have played together on summer teams. Henry Clay won twice during the regular season and then Station "dragon-slayed" them in the first round of the district tournament. Last night, Bryan Station had a starter back who had been out with an injury (Jordan Henry), but had two of their top eight players out (Marcelleous Washington and Larry Morton) due to coach's decision. Henry Clay is very talented, but very young. They started 3 sophomores, a junior, and a senior point guard last night. They have a bright potential future, but losing a 13 point lead to an 11-19 team they had beat twice earlier in the year at home in the first round of the district tournament is a bitter ending to their season.

"PurplePride92" speaks the truth! Michigan has just gotten into the picture as well. I have heard talk that Trey Grundy might be one of the most highly recruited kids in Lexington since Dirk Minnifield.

Great picture, "Goldie". The pretty young lady sitting to your left is much more attractive than the dude who sat in that very seat in the third quarter of the ballgame. The gentleman in the Indiana University sweater is assistant IU coach Bennie Seltzer. http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/seltzer_bennie00.html Coach Tom Crean and his IU staff really like the two Henry Clay sophomores, Trey Grundy and Jordan Green. These two kids are young and have a world of potential. There will be a lot of schools who send coaches to watch Henry Clay in the next couple of seasons. The Blue Devils have several young players with great upsides.

Good ballgame. It was a pleasure meeting "Gold Sunrise" at last night's game. Make no doubt about it, see loves her George Rogers Clark Cardinals. She should. They play very hard as a team. I will root for them to win the 10th Region and go to Rupp Arena for the second straight year. Henry Clay looked really good at times last night, but were a bit careless down the stretch. After 13 straight quality wins, the Blue Devils have lost a lot of momentum as they go into the district tournament with two consecutive losses.

The Henry Clay/Lafayette game was a classic tale of two halves. Henry Clay shot 56% in the first half to 37% by Lafayette. The Blue Devils led by 14 at the half. Lafayette shot 56% in the second half and Henry Clay tanked to 5-25 shooting (20%), thus Lafayette wins by 2. Henry Clay has a tough road test at Clark County on Thursday and then open the district next week with a dangerous Bryan Station team. If their 20% second half shooting doesn't improve, it is going to be a long off-season for this young but talented bunch!

Very nicely written. I, too, think the Sweet Sixteen is very, very special. This will be a great event for you to continue to attend to celebrate your father's life. God Bless!

Most interesting stat line. Henry Clay shoots 31% from the free throw line and wins. Montgomery County shoots 55% from the field, 43% from the three line and loses. Unusual.

Henry Clay is winning the close ones this season. This team has a lot of potential and start 3 sophomores, a junior, and a senior. Big upside.

My advice to him would be to go where he is wanted. A scholarship offer and a financial investment in the kid means he his wanted. Walk-on or the new lingo "preferred walk-on" is not a financial investment or much of anything with a player. A player who walks-on has a extremely reduced opportunity to ever play as opposed to a player on scholarship. Trust me on this one.

I think North Laurel is in over their head in this game. George Rogers Clark will win this one handily.

I think Craig Yeast would be a dynamite choice for George Rogers Clark High School.

The Shamrocks have a little basketball mojo going. I love the way the play defense, especially their pressure on the ball. Defense is a constant and will serve them well going for a state championship in the "other" sport.

Henry Clay is very up and down. Additionally, Christen Cunningham did not play (ankle) and Henry Clay played their entire bench. Sayre played well and made a bunch of threes of the first half.
