I just saw all of PurplePride92's updates. He was obviously at the game, but was he in the press box? I don't know how he could have typed the updates otherwise.....it was very cold out there.

By definition, a one-dimensional offense is an offense that only passes when they need to. Meade County is, by definition, one-dimensional. I don't think that will serve them well as the Waves attempt to make it back to Bowling Green.

I fully understand the statement that defense wins championships in November and December in high school football. However, I have seen Meade County one time against a Henry Clay defense that had given up nearly 500 yards passing and 600 total offensive yards against Bryan Station a couple of weeks before. The Waves had less than 200 yards against the Blue Devils last Friday night, including 43 yards passing. Here is the issue. In high school football, it is not difficult to stop one dimensional teams. Henry Clay was able to stack their defense to stop the run because Meade County showed no ability nor desire to throw the football. I think that is their issue against Scott County. The Cardinals will load the box and shut down the running game of Meade County, daring them to throw. Even though Meade County plays excellent team defense, the Cardinals will find a way to score and Meade County will not be able to keep up. This is how the game is suppose to work out, but we all know the saying of why they play the game. Almost anything can happen with these teenage high school kids.

O.K.....now I am with you Hoss about the cold and advantages because of it. If it was a natural turf field, I think the cold plays little or no role. On a cold grass field, it is just different. I'll give a bit of an edge to Central Hardin. I have seen Bryan Station twice this season and was very impressed with their skilled players. A bunch of playmakers. However, I saw Henry Clay rush for 500 yards against him and see no reason why Central Hardin couldn't run up big rushing statistics as well. Bryan Station might have an edge in a shoot out, but Central Hardin wins in a lower scoring contest.

Will the game be played on natural grass or turf? I have never been to a game at Central Hardin.

Meade County has a very well coached, disciplined defense. That serves them well, especially in the playoffs. My thought on this game is that Meade County's offense is not good enough to allow them beat Scott County. I just don't feel they have the playmakers to score enough points to win this game.

Now I agree with this. The interest in Kentucky High School basketball has really dwindled in the last 30+ years. That is until the state tournament which still is a magical time.

No disrespect, but I just don't agree with your post. I have been watching Kentucky high school football for 30+ years now and I say the excitement level is less now than in the past. These states are football hotbeds because of the massive interest in the sport over the years in these states. It's called tradition. Especially in Texas, high school football is a way of life and has been for many years. Better facilities, better community support, better coaching???, etc.....more interest and it is more important to the people in these states.

I grew up in Ohio, but I decided to make my home in Kentucky. I love Kentucky. I just don't like having a watered down high school football playoff system. Let's give everyone a Snoopy trophy!

This has been my argument for several years about Kentucky High School football. It is too watered down. In Kentucky, if you are a state champion in football, you are the best of about 36 teams in each class. In Ohio, if you are a state champion in football, you are the best of about 100 teams in each class. In Texas, if you are a state champion in football, you are the best of about 200 teams in each class. Kentucky, in my opinion, should have no more than 3 classes in football.

Even better yet, Henry Clay had it first and goal on the one yard line and did not score. The second down play by Meade County, I believe #70 was the best defensive play of the game. Nice goal line stand by the Waves.

Nice summary. I didn't get to make the trip to Belfry's beautiful stadium for that opening game, but I was very surprised at the final score. I thought Henry Clay had too much speed for Belfry, but I was obviously wrong. For what it is worth, the wearing Henry Clay down theory because Henry Clay plays a lot of guys both ways is just not true. The Blue Devils play exactly one player both ways......Davonte Robinson. Coach Simpson has had plenty of good athletes to play two-platoon football for many years now.

Flip a coin. Both great on the high school level. Keep in mind that Joquise Buford is a junior. More to come. I has been load/reload for Henry Clay. They have been blessed with a full stable of running backs through the years.

I agree with you Clyde. I am not a big fan of these Hal Mumme like games. I would rather see a 21-17 type game anyway. Both these teams are loaded with athletes, but you would think those athletes could play a little defense too, with just a little coaching.

In last night's game, Joquise Buford tied the all-time KHSAA rushing touchdown in a game record with 8 touchdowns.

I am a big believer in Consumer Reports' evaluations. Their top two picks in the 60 inch television class is the Samsung PN60F8500 and the LG 60PB6900. The LG cost is only about $1100 which is less than half of the Samsung.

That is because of his speed. He has the hips to play corner, too. I personally think safety is his best position. Depends a lot on UK's defensive needs.

Great instinctive athlete with outstanding speed. Definitely a defensive back at the next level. Would be nice as a weak safety at UK. Congratulations to this young man and he is only a junior.

I was at that game. Beautiful stadium they have at Belfry. I agree that Henry Clay's speed will be hard for the Pirates to contain. Stranger things have happened and Henry Clay does have a first time starter at quarterback, but I would think they will scored a lot of points and when by a comfortable margin.
