Enrollment by Class Comparison

Well here is a comparison of Enrollment by class in Kentucky, Ohio and Texas...Kentucky's problem isn't too many classes, it too few schools. But Kentucky's class division by enrollment seems to be in-line with other schools as far as keeping similar sized schools in classes together.

What? Wouldn't too few schools make for too many classes? Classes are much easier to control than number of schools.

Basically.

How many times can we debate this? It's never-ending.

It's never-ending and unproductive. Complain to your Supers, Principals and football coaches, they are the one's that wanted 6 classes.

My point is that Kentucky schools are divided similar to other states as based on enrollment for competitive purposes.

KY AA (189-315) has a bigger spread of enrollment than either Texas (158-219) or Ohio (120-171)

If Enrollment is the fairest way to divide team Kentucky seems to be in line. Kentucky AA team could play a team with 120+ more in enrollment, Ohio and Texas schools play schools closer to their own size.

This is a new look at the debate...take time and look at the data with an open mind.

So in Kentucky a team with 120 enrollment should be playing with schools over 500? That's my point, look at the way the classes are divided. You have to divide my enrollment but if classes were cut to 4 as many want you'd have a huge disparity in enrollment in most every class, as disparity that doesn't occur in the Football Mecca's of Ohio and Texas except in their largest class.

Class 5A in Texas has a disparity of OVER 1,000. That's an enormous amount.

That's HUGE.

There are a lot of big schools in Texas!!!

These numbers don't include Privates which have four classes of their own.

Texas is misleading because every class has 2 playoff brackets.

Isn't public and private? Enrollment for the other divisions were similar that's why I only posted one set of enrollment data.

OK, I know I'm dumb, but what if you have 105 on your team in Texas? What class are you in? What class are you in if you have 220 in Texas?

It's never-ending and unproductive. Complain to your Supers, Principals and football coaches, they are the one's that wanted 6 classes.

Well, not really. They wanted to split public and private and the vote succeeded...this was the KHSAA who came up with this after legislature said no to the split.

OK, I know I'm dumb, but what if you have 105 on your team in Texas? What class are you in? What class are you in if you have 220 in Texas?

I think I found my answer on the Texas website:

Class 6A: 2,100+

Class 5A: 1,060-2,099

Class 4A Division I: 686-1,059

Class 4A Division II: 465-685

Class 3A Division I: 315-464

Class 3A Division II: 220-314

Class 2A Division I: 158-219

Class 2A Division II: 105-157

Class 1A Division I: 55-104.9

Class 1A Division II: 54 and fewer
