Could be, I think that sports outside of Basketball will eventually go to 2 or classes. I don't see Basketball changing just because of the history of the Sweet 16.

 

Agree with this but think bball needs 2 classes as well. Minimum. Period.

Many factors go into a successful program not just size of the male student population. However, assume that two schools share similar dedication to the sport and have the same level of quality coaching and community support.

 

I look at Elder and HHS as an example. I believe Elder has close to twice the male population as HHS. When they played you could easily see a difference in size between the two teams and the results show in Wins vs Loss.

 

The Ohio, Texas student male population plays a part in the number of athletes that support those states success in sending players to the next level in greater numbers than Kentucky.

That's HUGE.

 

Not when in class 6A in Texas some schools have enrollments up to around 5K to 6K.

Has anyone really looked at the enrollment numbers and how a football team has performed? Based on enrollment, New Cath has been in the bottom 10 of 2A schools but has been in 5 of the 7 state title games yet East Ridge is one of the biggest 2A school and they have only won about 25% of the games since 2002. In 1A, Bracken County is one of the largest school but has serious issues fielding a team. If we base is solely on numbers, Pendleton County with 414 boys should easily handle Dayton with 98 boys. That is not happening so there are other issues that can't be corrected with classification. As the saying goes, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, the size of the fight in the dog! These schools need to develop (copy) a plan to be successful and go with that plan. In my opinion, some of these teams are just rolling the balls out and letting them play.
