Why are we always hearing about what one sport has and what one doesn't, or what one state does and one doesn't. How hard is it to understand that not all sports and states are created equally? If football wants to be more like baseball, play every day. If basketball, play twice a week. There's a reason that doesn't happen. The sports are DIFFERENT.

How so? Just because you don't play other schools? Ironically, that's the current baseball season. You don't play any other schools.

You don't think football coaches are telling those same kids they need to be there for "things that are related to football"? Heck, a lot of schools install their entire offense and defense at that point. I thought the argument for spring football was that it would be football's "alternative" league? Sounds like it still isn't enough.

To be clear, I'm not sure any sport's season needs to be extended.

Their allowed to practice nearly immediately after school gets out and the season goes until mid-December, of course, not including the dead period that all sports have. They also get 10 spring practice days. Basketball can't practice from the start of school until October 15th and baseball can't practice from the start of school until February 15th. That's hardly year round.

Football coaches are the last people in KY that should be complaining about getting enough practice time. Good grief.

I completely support signing at school. While I think you can do it with all of your classmates as soon as school is over for the day, instead of in the middle of the school day, I don't have that much of a problem with it. However, taking a day(s) off to think about it is extreme, IMO.

Ben is a good football coach and even better person. He cares deeply about his players, which is a good place to start when one aspires to be a good head coach. One thing is for sure, Ron Madrick will hire the best candidate.

I heard a good idea from someone about seeding vs blind draw. Since mandating seeding in districts will bring on a major movement for classification, why not alternate. Even years seed, odd years blind draw. Seems like the best of both worlds. Note...I'm not opposed to classification I just understand some are completely for and some are completely against it.

If you want to argue that Lickert isn't a great coach, fine. There's nothing anyone can do to change your opinion, although you're acting like he took over teams with top 5 schedules. But, that's not the point of my post. I'll just say this, you lose all credibility when you say Lickert lacks class. If you've heard the opposite it's most likely from someone that Lickert didn't feel was doing a sufficient job and wasn't asked back. I'll say this, consider the source. You have MULTIPLE people on here posting that he's nothing but class and has done great things for kids, off the field and on. Somehow you have found the one person that doesn't think this. Apparently, he didn't tell them what they wanted to hear when asked about his "dream job", why would he play them on assistant coaches? Wonder how the rest of the candidates answered that question.

One would assume that the best assistant's will be hired, regardless of who accepts the job. If those are "in house people", so be it. Why would anyone hire coaches that can't get the job done? As for the young assistant's, who wouldn't want young, energetic help from people that share your philosophy? Especially if they're FREE!

You are absolutely clueless. Where are you head coach and what is your record? Your posts alone tell me that Lickert is ten times the person you could ever be and I'd love for my kids to play for a person like him. There's more to winning on the field. Lickert turns his kids into winners off the field. Everyone with a clue knows he is one of the top coaches in the area, period.

So what you're saying is that Lickert accepted the job last year and no one heard about it; but thus far this year no one knows if he's actually applied for the job, yet everyone knows he has it. I'd check your "sources".

Baseball coaches EASILY have the least time with their kids. It's the shortest season and extremely weather dependent. You are inferring that fall baseball is directed by the high school coaches, which can not be done. Ironically many summer baseball teams have kids miss games because of passing leagues. It is almost as if the state, and football coaches, want to make football an equal to baseball and basketball but let's face it, there is no "recreational" version of football. High school is it. With that said, they have much more practice time than any other sport.
