Featured Replies

People out here in Alexandria are saying that the Camels have made a decision on who their coach will be as long as he wants to take the offer.

They think its a done deal.

Steve Lickert from Holmes?

Steve Lickert from Holmes?

That would be a good hire, if they pulled that off.

I think this thread is a lot premature. I'm pretty sure there is a law that the job has to be posted for 30 days and it hasn't even been a week since Coach Styer resigned. If they have made a hire this quickly it is either really good or really really bad. We shall see.

The rumor has been Lickert for the past week.

For many schools the 30 day rule is a sham, they do what they want when they want and pay no attention to the "rules."

Unless I am mistaken there is no 30 day rule to hire a football coach. A football coach is a classified position which does not require the waiting period just to hire the coach.

What he's trying to say is that in Kentucky, the job has to be posted for a certain amount of days before the school can actually hire someone. I thought it was two weeks, but 30 days does sound familiar. Now, the school may have someone they've found and really like, but their announcement may not come until the end of that period.

There is no "posting of job" rule for classified positions from a state standpoint. However for teaching positions there is a 30 day rule. Since many times the coaching and teaching jobs go hand in hand you get a 30 day window before hiring a coach due to the fact that they hired that person as a teacher as their primary job. Everytime this happens some body posts that they violated the "30 day rule." Now there are times that the 30 day rule does not apply even for a teaching position. After a certain date in the summer it does not apply due to the fact that school would be starting soon. You can get emergency waivers from KDE during the school year to not wait 30 days for an unexpected opening, etc.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: This 100% correct

So Lickert is heading to the county?

Why would you start a post like this and then not reveal the name of the "done deal"? This makes your claim sound a little suspect. Anyone can go around saying that this school found its new head coach and its a done deal, see watch....

"I also heard, Grant Co. has a new head coach! It seems like a done deal!!"

If it's a done deal, give us a name. I want to know who my son will be playing for next year.

That's be a great hire if so.

I am in complete agreement.
