How is the amount determined by the state?

While I agree with Leatherneck's reasons for the most influential change, part of that is the KHSAA adopting spring football.

Never said it was a necessity. It's part of it. And NewCath and HC are not Trinity.

Don't completely disagree. Clearly Boyle had the ability but didn't take advantage. But find that money at Dayton High School.

Call Field Turf and see how much they'll put down for "attitude and culture". Just sayin... That's a big part of it, too. The ability to have a solid practice, regardless of weather.

I had this typed up last night but the site went on hold. While I don't completely disagree that some programs aren't maximizing their potential, some ceilings are higher than others. Most kids at Trinity don't have to work, which leaves time to workout. Most kids at Trinity either have a vehicle or have a parent that is able to transport them to wherever they need to be. Most kids at Trinity have the money for a gym membership. Some even have personal trainers. Some go to camps and learn from college coaches....and so on and so on. All of this, along with a supportive community/coaching staff/administration...etc. is why Trinity is where they are. In the end, to get to Trinity's level it takes money and a lot of schools/communities don't have it.

Ouch.......

How do you expect a school/community that has major financial issues to create an environment like Trinity? It's not realistic. Money is too big of a factor.

More, yes. But I don't think there are a lot. I guess my other question is, why can't X duplicate what T has done/is doing? They, obviously, are the closest thing to T. Point being, if they are going to make an impact on anyone in the state, it would be their biggest rival who has the most similarities.

T does what they can do because they can and others can't. There have been a million threads talking about the success of Trinity and Highlands, all of those things aren't possible at all schools in KY, especially small and rural schools.

It's not always only about athletics. More students could mean additional PE classes. If they need two PE classes at the same time to accommodate more students, an additional facility means an additional class, also reducing the number of kids per class. Don't know if this is the case but there is an academic benefit.

Of course, less money is given to baseball players, which is, IMO, why it's not as popular.

Ironically, there are more Division 1 baseball players in the state than baseball and football, annually.

Agreed. However, they wouldn't act like it's the end of HS baseball in the state of KY like some are reacting here.

Thought I read on here that baseball coaches voted to classify a few years ago. To no avail.

Surely no one thinks that attendance would drop with 2 tournaments consisting of the "Elite Eight" for each class, do they? Same format, just two separate tournaments. "The event" would not change. The close-mindedness is no shock with basketball people.

As soon as a coach starts caring about what the fans want, they become one.

I gave my response. The coaches have 1 job in the tournament, give their kids the best chance to win. HHS did that. They tried to play with them in the regular season and everyone saw that result. When overmatched, you attempt anything that gives you a chance. No one can say that they were out of this game until the final minute. They lost the last game by halftime.
