  1. Ranked #1 in the land by Prepnation.com and Rise Magazine the Bombers with something like 6 Div. 1 recruits and a veteran team with 137 Juniors and Seniors on their roster.
  2. Cincy St X was ranked #4 in the nation in he Rise magazine poll and from what I read on another site they will be ranked #1 in the nation by the Prepnation.com poll that comes out tommorrow.
  3. What time is the player intro today?
  4. There are few if any schools in Ky that have more male students than T and X. However, Cincy St. X which hosts Trinity on 9/14/07 and is ranked as high as #4 nationally and dresses 138 players on their varsity I don't know how many students that is but its alot.
  5. Never heard of either of the Pa. schools playing on 9/14/07. That's the same night that defending Ky. state champion Trinity visits Cincinnati St. X who are ranked #4 in the country.
  6. Tie between Hornung and Brohm. Hornung - Won the Mythical State Championship his senior year, all around athlete excellent speed 4.6 40, kicked a kickoff out of the stadium in a playoff game, Bear Bryant at UK supposedly offered all 11 starters at Flaget a scholarship if Hornung would sign to go to UK. Brohm - 3 State Titles, 15-0 in Playoff games, 4 wins against other nationally ranked teams, #1 ranked QB in the country, 49 td 1 int. Junior year, uncanny accuracy and savvy.
  7. After 3 decades of coaching and watching 11-12 year old All Stars in regular season, district , regional and state competition and even once at Williamsport when Valley Sports took it all. My conclusion is that way more than half of the LL pitchers in Allstars competition throw the curve ball. In all that time I have only known first hand of a player who threw the curve alot that hurt his arm so badly that it ended his baseball career. I have known of atleast 10 whose arm was hurt that bad throwing the fast ball too hard or not warming up properly.
  8. The championship game performances of Beckham and Walls plus the fact that the game was televised may help Pettigrew win title.
  9. That being said, Ballard and SC would be top shelf competitive anywhere.
  10. Congrats to SC!! I had no dog in this fight and I truly believe those are the 2 best teams in the state but that was one ugly game.
  11. Ballard is extremely aggressive on defense and if the officials let them play they get more and more aggressive as the game goes on. However, if Warren Central handles the ball and gets into the bonus early in both halves they have a chance. Ballard's half court game is decent but they MUST create turnovers without fouling or they are in a tight ballgame.
  12. Seeding gives the perceived better teams the advantage of playing the perceived weaker teams in the first and second round. These perceptions would be deciced in a board room and the larger schools, traditional powers and politically connected schools would be helped at the expense of the smaller, non connected newcomers. So, basically we would be making our own BCS and stacking the odds against the Cinderella teams. The haves don't need any more advavntages they already have better facilities, booster clubs, more kids to chose from, larger coaching staffs, AAU teams, larger areas to draw from, etc.
  13. On second thought, why continue the farce? Simply take handchecking and palming out of the rule book so that every team could work on them and make them artforms and we would also eliminate the curiously timed calls.
  14. Officials for years were instructed to call the handchecking early, to minimize their problems as the game progresses but they simply didn't call it at all last night. They should just take it out of the rule book if it is not going to be called on a regular basis. That way officials will not be able to select the situations they decide to use the rules in.
  15. Hand checking is defined as illegal contact by a defensive player which impedes the forward or lateral movements of the offensive player. The following are handchecking guidelines for all referees. It is a foul if: * A defender leaves his hand on an opponent * A defender continually places hands on an opponent * A defender places 2 hands on an opponent * A defender continually jabs an opponent * An illegal arm bar is used by the defender ( A arm bar may be used by a defender in the post but not when face to face.) Sorry, I went to my first game in a while last night and thought they had surely changed the rules but they are still the same.
  16. A technical foul should be have been called on the fans and the head coach should be called to the PA to address his teams fans. Repeat infractions should call for additional technicals, kicking the worst fans out of the gym and if necessary forfeiture.
  17. Agreed, the Rocks look like they are one ballhandling, pentrating point guard short.
  18. Well, Ballard won again tonight, they pressed the entire game and forced the Rocks into many TO's and the Trinity D kept the Bruins in check and had the lead at the half. It was a very tight game until Ballard made 3 straight 3's midway through the 3rd period while the Rocks, who missed 17 free throws in their 1st game with Ballard, were missing somewhere between 8-10 free throws in the 3rd period alone. Ballard was able to maintain their 7-9 advantage the rest of the game stretching in out at the end to win by 15. Both could win the 7th but neither looked dominant.
  19. I'll give Cov Cath credit for originality and great school spirit but as far as loudness, no. One school's cheering section was so loud and intimidating in their opening round victory that their entire student cheering section was mysteriously forced (by the state police) to move to the upper deck in Rupp Arena for their second round game against the defending state champions. It was Trinity. Sorry for going off the thread but I am still touchy and I think CovCath and Ashland fans would be too if it had happened to their students.
  20. The Rocks had the lead a good part of the game but must improve on their ball handling. Beaumont was great in the second half if not the Dawgs go down.
  21. Petrino was absolutely amazing against Male. Heyman's tremendous one handed interception return for a TD with 6:30 left in the game gave Male 34-23 lead. Petrino led an unbelievable 80 yard drive for a TD and followed that with a 2 pt conversion in less than 2 minutes. Trinity held and petrino took them near 80 yards for the game winning td and there was still over 2 minutes left. Beaumont is a great player but the star of that game was Nick Petrino, his iron will and determination to win, rallied the Rocks to one of their greatest victories.
  22. Let's get Glen Este and Sycamore to play CovCath and Highlands and then we'll talk.
  23. Male can play with anybody any day anywhere and definitely deserves their national ranking. Every year we have these people come on here and tells us how great Ohio football is. Here is a FACT: If Colerain High school which is in the Ohio D-1 Semifinals wins the Ohio state championship this year it will be the 5th straight year that a Cincinnati team has won the D-1 title in Ohio. That is called domination of the state not parity. So just because some believe that Cincy St X and Colerain would beat Male does not in anyway mean that the rest of Ohio could. Louisville Trinity and St. X have consistently proved that they can play with and in some years beat the best Cincy teams, so obviously the same can be said for Male. Congrats to Male on their great season and the highest national ranking in a national poll, ever in Kentucky High School Footbll history. You were absolute warriors last night.
  24. Congratulations to the Dawgs for their tremendous second half domination of the Rocks, I must give praise to Beaumont, Williams, the QB and the entire Male defense. Congrats to the Rocks for their late 4th quarter comeback and their magnificent defensive stop with the game on the line. A truly fabulous high school football game, certainly deserving of a state final!!! I have posted this saying here many times before but it was never more appropriate than tonite, " It's Trinity there will be a comeback."
  25. Trinity 35-21, the experience of 4 titles in the last 5 years keeps the Rocks from turning it over.
