Who Has The Toughest Schedule?

Featured Replies

Just looking at the schedules for next season it is blatantly obvious that the big name sof KY HS Football are certainly not disappointing. CovCath, Trinity, X, Male, Highlands, et all once again have serious comptetion which we all expect, but who surprised me is.....

LOUISVILLE CENTRAL!

Pound for pound the Yellowjackets have clearly the most difficult schedule in the state. In most pre-season polls you can expect central to be amongst the top 3 or 4 teams in 3A,, enjoy these polls as the Jackets may very well end the season 4-6 and STILL be considered a favorite for the 3A title!

Central opens with Manual, one of the elite traditions in state football history.

They follow that up against Male, a perennially one of the top 5 teams in the entire state.

Then throw in up-and-coming Bullitt East. The Chargers are quickly becoming a staple as a 10+ win team.

The schedule lightens a bit as they take on Etown (still usually a comptetive team), Western (one of the better 2A teams last season), and Shawnee.

Then comes @ Johnson Central, a 13-1 3A State Semi-Finalist last season and very capable of repeatign the same feat in 5A.

Moore won't be a threat, but two of the top traditions in the Nation, Highlands and St. X round off the Murder's Row schedule.

I know that central is trying to get over the hump as they have established themselves in the past 5 years as a legit team on the state level. But, the biggest knock year in and year out has been their discipline and lack of defense. Is it really a wise move to lose 6-7 games and back into the playoffs when DISCIPLINE is your biggest weak point?

IMO the coach has good intentions but has bit off more than he can chew. I understand playing 3 or 4 of those teams and then scheduling a couple teams of equal or less talent, but I feel that they will be committing psychological suicide as it stands now.

Particularly impressive is the fact that Central is playing against top teams with far greater male enrollments. X has another difficult schedule, and Trinity has upgraded their schedule. Neither of those two shirk opponents, but each plays teams with far fewer male students. Central is stretching up. BTW, I've not reviewed Cov Cath's schedule, but it is often difficult, and they also play X this year.

Trinity's schedule:

8/31 Bowling Green

9/7 Butler

9/14 @ Cincy St. X

9/21 Eastern

9/28 Lou. St. X @ Papa John's

10/5 @ Ballard
