Tim Couch. Couch, and Mike Holcomb at Breathitt got football moving in this state by using the passing game.

The quality of football in the state has improved dramatically since the spread offense got rolling and these two guys were the ones that got it going.

When you understand where Tim Couch came from, the type of programs they had before him (I'm not knocking Leslie Co. they usually have a solid mountain program) and the ones after him it is amazing the level he and his teammates got to. When you compare him to the others on the list (most came from always high level programs) he wins hands down IMO. I wish he could have played professional ball on a team with a line to protect him he would been a much better pro. I loved watching him from the 9th grade to the Browns and really watching him at UK.

People, with out a doubt the best player ever from Kentucky is Paul Horning! 2 Super Bowls, MVP of the Super Bowl and in the pro football hall of fame. No one is even a close second.
Didn't read the first post, did you? :sssh: ;)

:thumb: Horning was great IN high school. He was great after high school, and he was great beyond that.

Couch was a great high school (and college player), a few of the others were also great high school (and college players) and some are just fillers for the poll. Horning, if you are being honest with yourself, is head and shoulders above these guys. He did it at ALL levels, including high school.

I can't decide between Brian Brohm and Tim Couch. I mean, Brohm was surrounded by superior talent and put up big numbers in the largest class. However, Couch put up HUGE numbers with inferior talent. Not sure which is worth more.

Oh, and no one will EVER convince me that Shaun Alexander was a better HIGH SCHOOL running back than Justin Frisk...No way!!!

I know that many will say mine was a homer vote, but I voted for Brian Brohm. I understand the arguments for Tim Couch, but I feel that even though Brian's supporting cast may have been stronger, I feel his level of competition was higher, and he was still able to hit the record books in several areas.

I also feel that if you put Tim Couch in a situation like the classic Trinity/Male battle for the State Championship, I'm not as comfortable that Couch would have competed as well with Michael Bush.

For the record, my decision came down to two players, Brohm and Bush. And, Brohm BARELY edged out Bush, and the edge came from the out-of-state teams Trinity played while Brohm was QB'ing for Trinity.

This is how I feel about it.

Brian is spectacular and may well end up being better than Hornung, but until then I am going to say the Golden Boy.
