Do the Rocks have a shot this time? If I recall Trinity was up 19-4 at Ballard in the regular season match up.

I think Ballard is too athletic for Trinity. I would like to try a zone this time and force Ballard to shoot from the outside. I bet 90% of their made baskets occur on layups, dunks or short range jumpers.

I think with Jacobs working inside Trinity has a shot. I don't know that anyone has stopped him this year. T's best shot, IMO, is to control the tempo and shorten the game. The big question is whether T has the ballhandlers to milk the clock in the face of Ballard's expected pressure. T's free throw shooting must improve, too. B is very deep and they can run all day. T must not let B get cheap run-out baskets. I don't think B is the greatest shooting team but they can hit 3's if left open (e.g., Gowers and Cox). T's perimeter players (Chambless, Tierney, Berry and Sewell) need to play big. I think T's inside game will be all right. T had all they could handle with Seneca and B will be even tougher. All in all, I'd say B by about 8-10. The big game would be next week, however.

^I agree. The guards have to play well tonight to have a chance.

I believe the coaches (or coach) has to do a better job than what has been done lately to pull this one off, not just Jacobs and the guards.

What do you see that they are not doing?

Huh?

Trinity is 21-6, 11-4 in the Region and has won 6 out of 7. Do you remember to pre-Szabo era? If not, just reverse the record.

Thought I would get that response. You are correct about the record. It's always on the players though in the responses. If you are close to the program you might have caught on that it is normally the players fault when there is a close game or a loss. If the players would just do what the coaches tell them there would not be any losses, right? Never a result of a coach "freezing" up or just throwing his hands up and shaking his head in disgust while the players are "messing it up". Did you catch the Eastern game by chance? That's all I am saying, if the players AND coach are on the same page they will have a chance.

I don't disagree that a coach can have a game that is not so well coached....happens to everyone of them at some point.

Yes, I remember T pre-Szabo...and all I can say is...thank GOD he is here!

No question, overall Szabo does a great job. Ask anyone "involved" in the program and they will tell you that he is a heck of a conditioning coach, defensive specialist and (even though it is methodical at times) runs decent sets. Does he do a great job adapting during a game or find the correct buttons on players to push? I am not going to comment, unless you go to every game and are around kids that play and have played for him you can formulate your own thoughts. But like it was said earlier, he has a proven record so he must be a great coach.

Again, no coach is perfect. I will still take and keep Szabo for the T program.

Couple of things...Szabo is actually a close friend of mine. I have seen the good, bad and the ugly from him. ;) :sssh: :D

Well, Ballard won again tonight, they pressed the entire game and forced the Rocks into many TO's and the Trinity D kept the Bruins in check and had the lead at the half. It was a very tight game until Ballard made 3 straight 3's midway through the 3rd period while the Rocks, who missed 17 free throws in their 1st game with Ballard, were missing somewhere between 8-10 free throws in the 3rd period alone. Ballard was able to maintain their 7-9 advantage the rest of the game stretching in out at the end to win by 15.

Both could win the 7th but neither looked dominant.

The tide turned when Gower was left wide open for three straight threes in the 3rd. It continued to unravel for the Rocks when then finally got a few calls and shot something like 5 for 20 from the line. I can't put this one on the coach, Trinity just doesn't have anybody that can handle the ball, period.
