Somerset/Danville Predicitions
This should be a pretty good barometer for where Danville is. At the beginning of the year I thought it would be a tight race between Danville and Bardstown for the district title, but as of late I'm wondering if Danville isn't going to run away with it... I guess we shall see soon just how good the Ads are.

Monroe County / Barren County Predictions
Last six seasons of Monroe vs. Barren (Coach Petett's tenure as HC) 2009 Monroe 34 Barren 14 2008 Monroe 21 Barren 0 2007 Monroe 14 Barren 23 2006 Monroe 22 Barren 21 2005 Monroe 20 Barren 21 2004 Monroe 6 Barren 7 Coach Petett’s record against Barren is 3-3, and as you can see the game is usually very close. IMO Barren Co. circles this game where as Monroe may have been guilty in the past of approaching the game with less passion and desire than Barren, to do that this year would be a mistake. Barren in the past has had festivities such as redneck day, where the students dress and act like there from Monroe, not to mention the debacle two years ago where the Barren Administration accused our players of not understanding how to use indoor plumbing... as if the 30 miles that separate the two counties somehow makes them better or more civilized. The Monroe players have also seen fellow students and athletes leave Monroe for the “greener pastures” of Barren Co., simply put too many from Barren Co. and even a few from Monroe Co. think that Barren Co. and the people there are better than those in Monroe. There’s not much we can do to change that perception, we can however, abuse and smack their kids around for 48 minutes Friday night and I for one will certainly enjoy seeing it… Monroe 35 Barren 14

No doubt in my mind that FC's tough schedule will make them a better team come November.

Monroe County 48 Adair County 0
My observations, Great to see the defense get the shutout, even better that a large part of that credit goes to the JV who came in and held their own. Sophomore class is loaded! Another good game by QB Arnett, made some good throws and reads, needs to put a little more loft on those screen passes though... Breakout game by Tanner Kendall, he's the best edge runner we have, but still not sure why he gets the ball at the 2 yard line between the tackles. I would love to see a goal line set (wishbone) of Vickery, Wilson and Shirley or even John Allen Yokley who had some monster blocks last night, I don't think that group could be denied 3+yards every time. DE's are slowly coming around, a few blown assignments last night but seemed to get better as the game went own. When district play starts we will have to have our ends playing much better. Kendall and London are great DB's, London provides great coverage and Kendall is in on every play that passes the line of scrimmage.

Monroe County/ Adair County Predictions
This game will be good for nothing more than building confidence and getting the young guys some playing time. Although with the way the starters have played the last 6 quarters they may need to stay in and work out the kinks... Monroe 49 Adair 7

Barren County/Glasgow Predictions
With all that went down with Coach Esters and Glasgow, and now him with him coaching Barren I wouldn't be surprised if Barren doesn't play with a little more fire in their belly than normal and keep it closer than it should be. Glasgow 34 Barren 14

BGP Class 2A Rankings for Aug. 30
I understand Monroe dropping to #2, so far this group of Falcons have yet to prove their worthy of the top spot. They can be the best team in 2A, but they’ve got work to do…

Monroe County 14 Edmonson County 7
I didn’t get a chance to watch this game, so I can’t comment much other than I’m surprised that the Falcons only scored 14 pts. And to be honest I’m more surprised we only gave up 7. Coach Petett had this to say after the game, “Our timing’s off, and our vision’s off,” coach Petett said. “We have a lot of good weapons, but we’re just struggling to open things up.” He had this to say about the play calling, “I put us in some bad situations on the goal line,” he said. “(The players) had us positioned well and I just didn’t make the right calls. “I take full responsibility for that.” Reading the recap of the game I would say the only mistake in play calling would be the back to back handoffs to Kendall at the 2 yard line, don’t get me wrong Kendall is a great athlete and contributor I’m just not sure he’s built for the power running he’s sometimes asked to do.

Great to see my Falcons at the top for once, FC has been a big hog for long enough. Good luck to both of the Falcons this week!

Monroe County/Edmonson County Predictions
I accidently voted for Edmonson Co. For that I hate myself... I do however think this game has the potential to be closer than some may think. On one hand I feel like the Flacons showed some holes last week but on the other hand I don't think they showed all that their capable of either. I do hope the Falcons have the cramps under control… Monroe 41 Edmonson 28

Glasgow 61 Warren East 12
^ No doubt the district is going to be tough this year, not to mention the region with Danville reemerging as the Danville of old.

Monroe County 35 Wayne County 7
They pass the look test, I think they just need some time to gel and fine tune some things. They have decent size but lack the speed they've had the last few years and their QB is more of a threat to run and seems to struggle throwing the ball well. I think they can be competitive with most in their district but may lack the personnel to finish in the top half...

Hate it for the Green Players and fans, love it for their Coach(s)... I guess now we know why he was job searching all spring...

Monroe County 35 Wayne County 7
My observations, Great first half for the Falcons, 35 quick points and some new playmakers emerged as well. The defense was able to get some good work in because of how quick the offense did it's scoring, with the exception of a few big plays the defense held its own and looks to be improving. Conditioning was an issue in the second half, some players just aren't in playing shape but that will come quickly. Hydration and proper vitamin intake is apparently a problem for some players as well, cramps kept too many Falcons sidelined in the second half. The running back depth is really and may allow Kendall to play some at WR where he can contribute more, at this point he seems more suited at WR than RB. Jackson really impressed me again, if he steps into his throws he can riffle it. He also did great job running the ball and scrambling, he will be a very important part of our success. Crowd turnout was great.

Monroe County/ Wayne County Predictions
Monroe 34 Wayne 13 Monroe’s offense will be too much for Wayne to handle, however I wouldn't be surprised if the Falcon defense gave up some big plays. To be honest I hope the holes in the defense are exposed now as opposed to district time, there's never been a more important time to win the district than this year due to the home field advantage it would give...

Monroe County/ Campbellsville Scrimmage
A few of my observations, Defense did look better than I expected, especially when the scrimmage went to real game simulation with down and distance markers. Offense was everything I expected. once again scoring won't be a problem. I love the wishbone, I would like to see a set with Chad, Dillion and Tanner in the backfield. Also loved the use of the flats in the passing game. Jackson's first two passes were suspect but after that he looked great in the pocket and made some really good throws and decisions. I still worry about our defensive ends, I feel in our district the DE position may be the most important position on the defense, I think one end position is secure, the other may have to be filled by committee.

Monroe County 2010
After watching last night’s meet the team event and scrimmage a few observations, Offense will be explosive, scoring won't be a problem. Defense will take some lumps early in the season, how they respond will be the key to the Falcons success this season. Expectations are high, Coach Petett has set the bar high for these seniors and they seem primed to achieve those goals. Fan support continues to grow, there are often more Roe fans at practice than some teams have at games. The field looks better than I've ever seen it, that's important because if things go as planned there will be a lot of games played at Darrell Carter Stadium. Great to hear the season and every game will be dedicated to #84 Ethan Strode, Ethan has and will continue to contribute to the team even in his passing, his motto of "Get Big" is this year’s team motto...

Prayers for Monroe Player
Ever since I got the call this morning my heart has been broke, I have personally went through the gauntlet of emotions the worst of which is feeling guilty for not praying as much as I should have been and for that I'm sorry. One thing that is very uplifting for me is reading BGP and seeing the outpouring of prayers and support, I hope it gives Greg and Janie the same feeling when they get to read it. It truly give you the feeling of being a part of something bigger than your community, county and state. As for Ethan, he was very much a big part of his team and his junior class, tsyoung and me have often commented how amazing it is that they are so close, they literally go nowhere without each other and it seems every Friday and Saturday night is spent together often times at tsyoung's house so I know the loss hits them hard as well, which reminds me of a story of when tsyoung had something set to DVR and the boys somehow messed it up, of course Ethan being the obvious smart one of the bunch set out to fix it to no avail (I think Greg might have had tried as well:sssh:) of course it’s important to understand that tsyoung has 8 remotes and I'm not sure a MIT graduate could figure them out, but the point is that Ethan’s memory will remain a part of us and he will live on through his friends and this community and anything Greg and Janie need will not fall on deaf ears, I hope they take solace in knowing that… Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of prayer and well wishes, God Bless you all…

CJ All State Team
Proud to see Neil Wilson from Monroe Co. listed second team at WR, he's a great athlete but an even better young man...
