  1. I don't know how to answer the question any better. I don't think Smart heard the N word. I believe he used it as his defense for his poor actions... Smarts anger escalated because the situation escalated, with the tech, the impending loss and his continued struggles on the court... If I was Orr I would make him clear the air, either by his own doing or a lawsuit.
  2. Of course I have... You ever been around a group of black people and one black person makes a racial statement. One of my best memories from Iraq was telling racial jokes with our fellow "dark green" (black) marines. Funny stuff...
  3. I have no reason to believe he was called the N word... Only the out of control teenager has said he was... Not one fan, cameraman, espn crew member or teammate has validated his story. I find that telling... Like I said you hitch your wagon to Smart and I'll hitch mine to Orr. We'll talk in a few, Smart can't hide from his demons...
  4. Yep, still believe it... Now there's audio supporting he didn't curse and definitely didn't use a racial slur. You hitch your wagon to Smart, I'll hitch mine to Orr and we'll talk in a few years... I seen the way Smart's teammates tried to handle him and the fear and respect for his temper they had. They've seen this side of him before and no one knew how to handle him. Travis Ford should have sent him to the locker room and settled him down... For some reason he didn't even attempt to handle Smart, nor did any of the assistants.
  5. Certainly not okay to cuss players. Where is anything saying he cusses players? I have yet to see anything that suggest Orr has cussed or ever said anything vulgar to a player, and Lucas saying he says "crazy stuff" doesn't mean to me he cussed him or said anything vulgar... if Orr had a history of cursing and saying vulgar things it would be everywhere today... It's not...
  6. That article may be the best defense yet for Orr, pretty much says, in his own words, that he didn't say the "N word" or anything vulgar. Also says he has a history of saying crazy stuff, but doesn't say he has a history of racial or vulgar comments. Also has endorsements from the university and former TT coach's. That article pretty much furthers my belief that he said something (not racial) to an unstable (at the moment) adrenaline filled athlete and that athlete used poor judgement in his decision on how to handle it, that athlete then used the best defense he could to gain sympathizers to justify his actions. A little fortune telling on my part, but I would guess OSU has been made aware that audio or something solid exist to validate that Orr did not make a racial comment and today's press conference will be an apology and acknowledgment of that....
  7. While maybe ignorant, that's hardly evidence to imply he's a racist... If he said what Smart suggest he said, it will be known IMO and his history will be known as well... Like I've said, at this point I'd have to side with Orr. And the AD that said he's never crossed the line.
  8. I haven't seen anything that suggest he has cussed out players? Where have you heard that? I also haven't seen where he flipped anyone the bird. He implied a gesture that is a associated with flipping the bird but didn't go that far. The associate AD for Tech said that Jeff Orr has never crossed the line and they were surprised by the allegations. Until I hear otherwise I consider that defense enough that he didn't make the comments he is accused of. It would have been quite easy for Smart to use that as justification for his lack/lapse of proper judgement. It would have rallied a lot of people to his defense...
  9. Outside of this issue alone, how often does racial slurs get used during sporting events? It blows my mind that it can be that common. You'd expect the university's to police that stuff, you'd also expect that even your own players wouldn't stand for it and you'd expect that those around the idiots would address it... If it's common, then it needs to be addressed and stopped. I'm in no way saying I think Jeff Orr said anything racial, I believe at this point he did not. If he had a history of that sort of thing Tubby would have already had that addressed by the university IMO.
  10. As I posted earlier, Jeff Orr was a nobody yesterday and will be one tomorrow. It's still speculation what he said, and I for one am not taking Marcus Smarts word for it. Furthermore, If Jeff Orr said what has been speculated I have zero...ZERO doubts he'll be dealt with appropriately. What's debatable here is Smarts reaction and punishment. Jeff Orr is best known in this world for being a "fan", I place very little expectations on him...
  11. I'm sure we looked American, however our clothing and appearance had to not look American and we were instructed to not speak loudly and not appear intimidating. But like I said I'm sure we looked very American. I've never really thought about why we faced that situation, just always assumed it was because we were "infidels"... Our restrictions made it almost not worth traveling in cities like Barcelona and Madrid. I had much more fun in the smaller towns like Zaragoza etc. That was pre-war, I can't imagine traveling abroad now trying to enjoy the world.
  12. Good post that I can understand and agree with...
  13. I can see you or any other black person getting upset at the use of the word... If the word was so offensive you'd think it would be off limits for everyone??? If I'm offended by something, I'm offended across the board... Furthermore, I don't know you or your struggle but have doubts your life has been so bad that you should be so jaded, or "on guard"... I'd honestly be interested to hear what struggles a black man in today's society faces? I'd consider myself well traveled and have only seen one instance of blatant racism.
  14. I wasn't spit on, another member of our group was... Why else would a Muslim group spit and curse a group of non-uniformed marines? Maybe it was because we were white, western or military. The most common reason for Muslim dislike of westerners is because of them being Christian... That was my assumption in the moment and now...
  15. The more I think about this comment the more ridiculous it is. Reminds me of a time I was playing basketball while in the Marine Corp. it was a diverse group of us playing, I was guarding a black guy and he was guarding me. I was having success on both offense and defense against him and at one point made the comment that I was"owning him"... I thought nothing about the comment at all, but later at a water break he pulled me aside and told me how offensive that was to be said to a black man. Realizing that, cut me deep... I always think about that and how well he handled it, I had a new respect for him and we became quite close and served in combat together... Luckily his parents taught him well, and thus he was able to teach me...
  16. And if I gave my kids the same authority we'd be where we where in the 60's. Racial slurs and comments go both ways... It's up to those of us the consider ourselves responsible to teach those less experienced in life how to handle situations appropriately.
  17. Because Jeff Orr isn't Marcus Smart. Because Jeff Orr isn't a student athlete at a public university. Because prior to tonight no one knew who Jeff Orr was. Because Marcus Smart is the only one at this point that clearly crossed the line, at this point Jeff Orr's comments are speculation. Because society will police Jeff Orr, opinion is irrelevant in the case of Jeff Orr. If he said what has been speculated no one doubts what the outcome for him will be. Because it's much more intriguing to discuss the issue as it relates to Marcus Smart. Was he justified? Should he be suspended? If so, how long? All legitimate questions that allow room for differing opinions.
  18. The Texas Tech AD said they've never had an issue with fan Jeff Orr going too far. I'd be willing to bet that Marcus has offended more and acted out more in his 19 years than this guy has in his 50+ years. I base that off how he acts toward his teammates, coaches and opposing fans. His teammates and coaches seem to handle him in fear.
  19. Marcus has shown himself to be a hot head on more than one occasion, his teammates tried to restrain him and he was hostile toward them as well, both last night and last week. I have no idea what the fan said, but I also have no reason to believe what a hot headed teenager says to defend himself from his actions.
  20. I have no idea what everyone that is upset with KSR's motivation is... I do know popularity and success bred disdain and envy. I bet a site with 200 visitors a week wouldn't be getting the attention this is right now. Question; how many pictures are reposted to peoples twitter feed, Facebook or other form of media without the publishers permission?
