  1. The last thing UK needs right now is a new coach at UL (the caliber that Jurich would get) with a full cupboard of talent and a new level of energy... If given my choice, I'd just as soon Charlie stay.
  2. I seen Wayne play the first game of the season this year and it was obvious to me they were as good as any team I've seen in 5-7 years. That includes the Fort Campbell teams, the Monroe teams, and the Central teams. If they play to their potential they will be the 3A champ....
  3. I said it after week one and still feel the same way.... Wayne will be the 3A state champion.
  4. Monroe's offense consist of 9 sophomores, 1 junior and 1 senior. So to say their young is almost an understatement. Personally I'm very pleased with what they've achieved this year. IMO, the falcons will have to catch some breaks and play their A-game to have a chance to win, but win or lose I'm happy...
  5. Either way I'm proud of the Falcons. I felt like they have won the games they should have and lost the games I thought they would, at the high school level you play the hand your dealt and this years team isn't a regional championship hand like we've gotten accustomed to.
  6. Sadly this is the result I feared. The only thing this game does for me, is leave me wondering who's better, SW or Wayne.
  7. Being a Monroe fan I have been fortunate (actually unfortunate) to see some of the states best teams clash with our Falcons over the years, FC during their great run, Puducah Tilghman and Central as well. Point being, Wayne is as good of a team that I have seen in several years. IMO, their only road block will be South Warren, who in reality shouldn't be playing in 3A.
  8. Same to you... My thoughts on Glasgow was they look like the Glasgow of days past, fast, strong and athletic. But they don't play like the Glasgow of days past. I can see how a fundamentally sound team (Somerset) could give them fits, they're a little too one dimensional to have the athletes they have. One thing is for certain, they have the horses to make a good run if they figure it out.
  9. Very disappointed in the loss, no doubt this team will continue to get better but that doesn't take the sting away from loosing. A little disappointed in the play calling in the last series as well... I'm not sure how you keep the ball out of the guys hands that got you back in the game, and I also don't understand how you don't commit the defense to stopping the run with 3:30 left in the game?
  10. If Monroe can figure out how to play assignment football, we might be able to make it a game in the second half. I'm having my doubts right now.
  11. Monroe playing pretty bad right now. Very disappointed in our inability to stop the run.
  12. Wayne is a tough well coached football team. They have all the pieces needed to make a deep run to BG.
  13. This is a good win for the Falcons. They should only get better as the season progresses, the main thing they need to improve on, is protecting the football and cutting down on dropped balls.
  14. SW is certainly no sleeper. Nor are they 3A, this years tittle run will be tainted in my book.
  15. Looks pretty good. If I had any criticism it would be, South Warren should probably be much higher. In fact I'll go ahead and go on the record and say my prediction is the 2013 3A state champion will be the Spartans of South Warren.
  16. This will be a hard game for the young Falcons to win. On one side you have a team ready to build on last years success (Wayne) with pretty much the same cast and script, on the other side you have a team with somewhat of a new identity (Monroe) and a new script, this early in the season I think the logical choice would be Wayne, but I think if Monroe can keep it close it will be a very good indication of good things to come this year. Wayne 20 Monroe 22 Go Roe Go
  17. South Warren will be loaded, that much is certain, it'd be interesting to see them compete in the appropriate class. I have my doubts they'd be garnishing as much attention as they are now. As for Monroe, I think they'll likely struggle to find their identity early in the season, but make no mistake they have talented hard working young men that have been successful at every level they've played at. I have no reason to believe that wont continue.
  18. Any study that involves revenue and UL is going to be skewed. This study is done from a business school that I would venture to say looks solely at numbers, as long as those numbers include the revenue generated from the deal with the YUM Center they mean very little to me when it equates to "best fan base". "Best administration", "best sweetheart deal" or "best tax payer screwing" maybe...
  19. Gametime, you've probably answered this a hundred times over, but, 1) where do you see Wiggins going? 2) when do you think that decision will come? 3) should anything be read into the fact three of Wiggins top four schools are visiting this week and UK is not?
  20. Because there will be less pressure on Wiggins at UK than any other school in the country next year. Last year that was just the opposite, and I think that's what held the young guys back was their ability to deal with the pressure that they had to play at a top level in order to win. Next year, with the talent UK has the freshmen can just do there thing and play loose. When they do that they'll shine...
  21. I could be mistaken, but, I believe the question asked to Cauley-Stien and Noel was "who is YOUR favorite UK player", not who is the best UK player...
  22. That's where I'm at with it as well. Who knows what they'll show next game, but as for tonight, they certainly showed signs of life.
  23. Nice win! Mays has such a will to win. My hope for this team is that his will and effort is contagious...
  24. I would love to send them to Billy Clyde for a little dose of Camp Clyde...
