Monroe County 14 Edmonson County 7

Monroe County gets the win over a decent but not great Edmonson County team

It was a win, but boy was it ugly!!!! Hats off to a pretty good Edmonson squad, their qb was very impressive but not that accurate at throwing. Monroe's Qb Jackson Arnette had a great game, he was offensive player of a game. He rushed 130+ yds that he is not usually given the go to run! Defensively, we need a new line and ends. Not very impressed at all!!! If Monroe does not get the D under control by District time it could mean a lot of trouble for home field advantage....I just hope Coach P makes the neccesary adjustments needed to take this team deep again this year.

Congratulations to Monroe County on a well-fought and earned win!

Later.

I am little surprised by this one. Thought Coach Pierce and his boys would win this one.

Monroe needs to show improvement at all positions. Defense and Offensive lines both need a lot of work. The good thing it is early in the season and Monroe has the talent to get the job done. Remember 3 most important games are Metcalfe, Glasgow, and Green. Monroe needs to be clicking on all cylinders before palying these teams.

I didn’t get a chance to watch this game, so I can’t comment much other than I’m surprised that the Falcons only scored 14 pts. And to be honest I’m more surprised we only gave up 7.

Coach Petett had this to say after the game,

“Our timing’s off, and our vision’s off,” coach Petett said. “We have a lot of good weapons, but we’re just struggling to open things up.”

He had this to say about the play calling,

“I put us in some bad situations on the goal line,” he said. “(The players) had us positioned well and I just didn’t make the right calls.

“I take full responsibility for that.”

Reading the recap of the game I would say the only mistake in play calling would be the back to back handoffs to Kendall at the 2 yard line, don’t get me wrong Kendall is a great athlete and contributor I’m just not sure he’s built for the power running he’s sometimes asked to do.
