Again, I don't know how much the game from the previous nught made with Ashland. But it made a huge difference with LexCath. I know that you did not see the best LexCath team. That's all I know. If that's true for Ashland, also, someone that's seen them play more than once would have to reply. I can only make a comparison observation for LexCath.

Having seen bothof these LexCath games, I could will make a couple of observations: LC certainly seemed lethargic against Ashland (porbably due to their tough game the previous night against Scott County; both teams press and run on offense which would takes it's toll). In addition LexCath continues to improve with each game as the football players continue to get into "basketball shape" and the entire team continue to learn each other and coach Salsman's system. This is to take nothing away from Ashland, but they did not see LexCath at their best on that particular day.

If South Laurel can be claimed as an eastern Kentucky team as many have done, I see no reason that Pendleton County can't be claimed as a northern Kentucky team.

That's the first thing I thought of when I say the opening. Although coach Sphire would be sorely missed at LexCath, ther are not that may openings like this in a lifetime. It would be selfish for LexCath fans to not want him to make the best decision for himself and his family, in my opinion

I may be wrong but I don't see why LexCath would ever want to play any of the Lexington Public schools. They manage to do quite well with their annual 4A opponent (Male, Trinity, X). What would they gain by replacing one of the perineal powerhouses with a Lexington Public school that might have a champioship calliber team every decade or so. This match-up might be good for the publics but I see nothing that it would offer the Knights.

I couldn't let this quote go unchallenged with facts, though: 2004-2005: D-1 scholarships to Michigan and Air Force 2 2003-2004 No D-1 scholarships 0 2002-2003 D-1 scholarships to Kentucky and Wyoming 2 2001-2002 D-1 scholarships to Notre Dame (2) and UK 3 2000-2001 No D-1 Scholarships 0 1999-2000 D-1 scholarship to Syracuse 1 That's an average of 3/4 D-1 scholarships each year. It's amazing how someone can coach teams with less that stellar talent to more than 10 wins every year. This gy has to be a great coach. If you knew these stats and didn't know it was coach Sphire, wouldn't you really think this is a pretty outstanding coach? Be honest.

Great game for the Knights. I was glad to be part of the crowd. This is what high school football is all about...two class programs giving their all. It was most gratifying to see a good LexCath crowd. We all risked a long cold drive home. One question for any Knight historians out there. How long has it been since LexCath has shut out an opponent?

Although LexCath won this game, I don't really think they're as precise as when they played against the likes of St. X and Scott County. I believe they would have continually improved if they had the opportunity to play against tougher opposition instead of a weak 7 team district (sorry, if this offends Harrison County, Franklin County, etc.) CovCath had only to play 3 district games which allowed them to improve against better competition as the year progressed.

What happened to the defense. They gave up points tonight. Perhaps they're human afterall. LOL

I agree with you Bluesport. LexCath's victory and Justin Burke's performance should in no way deminish the effort and skills shown by the CovCath QB. This was a great game and either team could have won. The most impressive area that I observed was LexCath rushing game stepped up when it had to. Just an aside...when will there be a rule change to allow returning kickoffs from the endzone. More and more highschool kickers have the ability to reach the endzone. Either let the receivers return the kick or move the kickoff back to the 35.

I really believe LexCath's ability to advance in the playoffs will not come from the offense as they have the capability to put up points against anyone. My concern is can the defense step up and stop a really good team?
