I was impressed with the Lady Tigers. It's one of the toughest challenges the Lady Knights have had this year. As far as officiating, I didn't see it the same way. I thought that LC turned up the pressure and this led to a lot of the fouls against CC as well as some turnovers. I hear this complaint of "refs getting out of control" (whatever that means) whenever a visiting team comes to central Kentucky. What you see is what you get in the 11th region. The refs always let the play get quite phisical and allow the players to generally decide the game. My observations are that this same type of officiating exhists in the State Tourny. This may be one of the reasons that the 11 region is generally very strong come tourny time. Having said that, I don't think the Lady Tigers are a team that the Lady Knights would wish to play again in Bowling Green

What's the magic number that allows a team to maintain an appearance of "class"? Is 50 OK but 52 is classless? Frankly, I don't really care one way or another. I think it's showing just as much lack of respect for your opponent when you instruct your players to stand near mid court and let the clock run. If this were to happen I would surely expect the losing team to just set in a zone and allow the clock to run.

I agree that LCA has the talent to win against any team that I have seen this year. The fact that they're so young (starting a Freshman and three Sohpmores) could spell trouble for the Lady Knights not only later this year but for the next few years. By the way, I ran into one of the LCA players at the mall yesterday and she said the young lady that collapsed is doing fine.

I can only surmise that LCA had more fouls called. Seriously, that is quite a dispariity. LCA did commit a lot of the fouls when LexCath either broke the press or were in the process of breaking the press. LCA pressed the entire game while LexCath played mostly half-cout defense for the second half. Perhaps someone with less bias than me saw it different.

I'd nominate the LexCath team that had Demetrius Green, William Graham and Harrison Morton

First of all, I think LexCath's defense had a lot to do with the poor shooting. To function well against this defense you have to have some outstanding ballhandlers. I've seen other teams, perhaps even better teams, suffer poor shooting nights against LC. Secondly, I think that non 11th region teams may have a hard time adjusting to the officiating in the 11th. Generally, the refs will let the players play more aggrssively than in other parts of the state, (just my opinion). And finally, the quality of team tha JBHS puts on the court will be decided, not by this game, but by the manner in which they play the remainder of the tourney. There's a lot of quality teams in the consolodation bracket and, therefore, more opportunities for the Crusaders to state their case. Either way, this is a good learning experience for each of the teams in the tourney to improve against good competition from throught the state which should help them in post-season play.

I personally don't miss the out of state teams at all. Every team (being a Kentucky team) has a lot of pride on the line.

I've never seen a game this physical with so few whistles. I don't think either coach can complain. The refs let the game be decided by the players. Tates Creek was very athletic at all positions. LexCath seemed to be outta sync the whole night due to the TC defense. I would have liked to see more outside shooting from the Knights. Also, Taylor Stewart seemed to own the baseline early in the game but seemed to abandon that later on. I don't know if the TC defense adjustment changed that strategy. It seemed obvious that LexCath's play was to take the ball inside to Novesel which is generally a good plan, but, when TC's defense collapsed, no outside player seemed to be willing to step up. Overall, this was a great game and both teams will gain from this encounter. It's great to see the publics play LexCath again even if they were forced into it.

Competition should improve for Mercer by default next season when they move to 5A

Actually, the game was slowed down by the relentless half-court defense of LexCath. Holy Cross seemed to have difficulty executing their offense which sometimes used up much time with just passing the ball around the perephery.

How come the middle schools only get to play 8 games a year?

It's not a matter of public schools not being able to play the private schools, it's that they choose to not play Lexington Catholic. I believe the public schools choose to play Sayre and Lexington Christian in all sports but elect not to play Lexington Catholic unless it's absolutely necessary. Since Dunbar, Tates Creek and Lafayette are all in the 43rd district with LexCath, they either must play them or forfeit the games. Thus far, they are not willing to do that. I guess their principles only go so far

I have a question that hasn't been addressed, as far as I know. I've heard several quotes on tv and even on BGP that Wallace ambushed Clinton with his questions. Just exactly what constituted the ambush?

Obviously,X has a great team and the Knoghts were generally outplayed. There's no disgrace in losing this game. The true test of LexCath is how they respond to the mistakes that were made and if they're capable of playing a better game against Scott County. Hopefully, they'll be able to right the ship. If there's no corrections, it could be a long unhappy year.
