This was a very intense game with many forced turnovers by both teams. TC won because their guards were successful in disrupting LC's offensive flow and the TC inside people are excellent leapers and got many second chance points. Tates Creek was the best team I've seen this year tonight. The game was even until the third period when TC broke out to a nine point lead but LexCath immediately cut it back to two. In the fourth period TC built up an eight point lead and LexCath couldn't come back.

Oh I dont I think you are very correct.

Mason will be tough to beat at home. Neutral floor would be good game.

Two key statistics were Tates Creek scored 24 points off 20 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Tates Creek had 18 turnovers but LexCath could only convert into 6 points. Also Tates Creek held a 20-6 advantage on second chance points. Tates Creek held a 35-28 advantage in total rebounds. 6-4 Sr. John Watkins had a big night for the victors with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Mike Spalding added 11 points and 7 steals.

As I predicted the Knights are still playing timid, no confidence. TC outplayed them in every facit, TC deserved the W and got it. Even TC's fans were better.

Tates Creek is big and deep, and may be the best team in the 11th. Too bad we have to wait a month to really settle it.

This does not surprise me. After seeing Tates Creek already I really like their team. I think in the early goings Scott Co, Bryan Station, and Tates Creek seem to be the 3 best teams in the region at this point.

I watched the Creekers play E Town a few weeks ago and was most impressed. They blew E Town out in the first quarter. I made note in other posts that I considered them a "Darkhorse" in the 11th.

 

With this win are they now considered a serious contender?

Right now I agree with the top three being SC, TC and BS but it's too early to exclude any of the top eight teams or so. I would have to consider Mason County as the favorite against LexCath at this time when the game is at Maysville. I also think the Knights were caught off guard by the Creekers and will be a better team for it.

I do not understand why they would be playing timid & without confidence. Considering the quality of players they have and with their AAU & varsity experience. Can you elaborate on this for us?

I've never seen a game this physical with so few whistles. I don't think either coach can complain. The refs let the game be decided by the players. Tates Creek was very athletic at all positions. LexCath seemed to be outta sync the whole night due to the TC defense. I would have liked to see more outside shooting from the Knights. Also, Taylor Stewart seemed to own the baseline early in the game but seemed to abandon that later on. I don't know if the TC defense adjustment changed that strategy. It seemed obvious that LexCath's play was to take the ball inside to Novesel which is generally a good plan, but, when TC's defense collapsed, no outside player seemed to be willing to step up. Overall, this was a great game and both teams will gain from this encounter. It's great to see the publics play LexCath again even if they were forced into it.

I Don't think either team will WHOOP either,Should be a fine game but thats a ways down the road unless they meet in the 5/3 which is a good chance.
