With the holiday weekend, I'd say there are MANY fans that have other plans for their Saturday night that didn't involve high school football. Many going out of town or having family get togethers and what not. I don't see these folks changing things up for a football game. Might be a smaller crowd tomorrow night than if they had just proceeded as planned.

I've stood on the sidelines many times in worse than what we have seen here the last day or so.

Nor did they ask for mine...obviously, they are not using the considerable resources available to them in making these important decisions... I don't see that playing tomorrow will make much difference since the weather channel has us scheduled for relatively low temps and overcast or raining all the way until noon tomorrow with scattered showers after that.

No, it's not...it has been a constant light rain here for the last day or so, but nothing that should have precipitated the postponement of this game.

That must be it...Dirk must not have gotten his supply in on time. Maybe the truck was held up by flood waters...

Same location, same kickoff time...why was this necessary??? More rain forecasted for tomorrow so what difference does it make?

One reason I am glad to see SOMEONE leave the district is the fact that it would have been the ONLY 6 team 3A district in the state with several 4 team. With Cawood only around for another year or two at the most, Fleming will soon be in a 4 team district and be a virtual lock for a home playoff game. Russell's district goes back to 5 teams and give's them the opportunity to pick up some tougher non-district games to replace Estill and Powell.

I'd like to see Russell keep Greenup, Boyd and Ashland as non-district games and then pick up some combination of Lawrence County, Johnson Central, Wheelersburg, Ironton or Wayne, WV. I think any of these would strengthen the schedule up quite a bit over what it is now.

The whole team was better than they looked that day. The bright lights and atmosphere seemed to do them in.

There were actually TWO different injuries in the same spot. The tightness came from a helmet to the back, the gash came later on...:thumb:

Either this one has gone long or the Tomcats didn't look too good. If it were otherwise, I'd have expected GIAT, et al to be giving us the highlights by now...

When he blocks the right man, he makes a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIG hole... Still learning the system, but I expect he will be a big part of the line (literally as well as figuratively) at Russell on both sides of the ball...sooner rather than later...:thumb:

Because a stadium was built 80 years ago doesn't necessarily imbue it with an automatic berth in the Satdium Hall of Fame...crummy locker rooms are definitely a part of it for the teams and I definitely give this one to Russell. IMO, seating, pressbox and parking would also go to Russell. The only area I see that Ashland has the edge is in the quality of the playing surface. One out of five isn't better...:thumb:

Yea, I know what you mean....Russell's visitor's locker room is ACTUALLY functional...

Don't remember even seeing Sizemore under center at this morning's scrimmage, but Jones sure did throw some nice balls...

Sizemore will be on the field but Jones is QB...like it or not, that is the way things stand right now with Jacob at the split end position. Jones is a capable passer and showed as much during passing league games. The team will be alright and there are many games for Russell and Belfry to worry about before they need to concern themselves with each other...:thumb:

Thanks...having 2 or 3 guys out can definitely make the line look bad early.

Also, keep in mind that what you saw Tuesday night was a split squad scrimmage. It wasn't one's versus two's...the coaches kept the teams pretty equal. What you see on Friday nights will be much different from what you saw in the Maroon/White Game...

The difference is this... basketball: inside cozy warm Rupp while outside weather is usually not so inviting baseball/softball: outside in the wonderful warm late spring weather football: outside in early December's usually not so inviting weather

For those coaches who complain about starting to early...YOU DON'T HAVE TO PLAY THE FIRST WEEK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO! The KHSAA allows 11 weeks to play 10 games. The first week is always an open week at Russell specifically to lessen the kids exposure to extreme heat. The extra week tends to get your first practices out of the heat a little more and your first games are typically a wee bit cooler. Personally, I believe the best way to remedy the situation with the move to 6 classes is to eliminate the ridiculous first round games. Too many teams make the playoffs as it is and next year will be even worse. It's a joke how many teams will be in next season, just let them all in if that's the way it's going to be. Eliminate the first round of the playoffs and move the start of the season back one week or two weeks if you want to move to the second weekend in December. As for the format, I think 3 & 3 is fine. Spreading it out over 3 days is a bit much in my mind. I don't think there are that many folks who try to go to every game and that number is going to go way down with 6 games now. Force them to spend another day in Louisville (pay for a room, eat out, etc.) and the number goes down even further.
