I do know the root of the comment and did not feel that was the case at all...as he pointed out in his follow up, severl teams in the 16th, boys & girls, have benefitted from transfers just in recent memory. West Carter, Ashland, Rose Hill, Russell, Boyd, East Carter....the list goes on. What he said is in fact true and his statement that transfers don't build a program is also true, IMO.

How is that hypocritical??? What did he criticize to begin with? He just made a statement that transfers have helped several teams , boys and girls, but that they don't build strong programs. Same thing at the collegiate level with JUCO's...sometimes they come in and help out for a year or two, but they rarely, if ever help establish a strong program that can sustain itself over time. Again I ask, how is his statement hypocritical?

The new system stinks...go back to the top two teams in each district making the playoffs. Everybody making the postseason in football is a joke...

Talk about somebody today's youngsters MIGHT have a problem playing for...:lol: Don't get me wrong, I think very highly of Coach Reed but his methods may not play well with the kids at Ashland if Flynn rubbed them the wrong way...

Lighten up Rocky...I wasn't talking about you there but if you truly think there is not the least bit of arrogance on the part of the Louisville folks as perceived by the rest of the state, I'm here to tell you otherwise. Some (not ALL) Louisville posters act as though the sun rises and sets based on what happens with their respective teams. This attitude comes out in the perception that nearly every poster outside Louisville doesn't know what their talking about or their suggestions or plans are rejected as being without merit, apparently because it's not what's best for Louisville. This is fact as far as I'm concerned. Personally, I think my suggestion for a new playoff format would work well in that there would always be a chance for an all Louisville final and in other classes, the Racelands of the world wouldn't always have to see Beechwood in the playoffs. To recap, continue with the first two rounds being intradivision. Then have a televised blind draw of ALL districts with third and fourth round games being played at suitable neutral sites. Of course, I'm not from Louisville so this will summarily be rejected as idiotic...

Again...pretty much everything you say in #504 is about the geographical problems TBF's plan has with the at-large teams (which I pretty much addressed in my last post). This is probably because he rushed to put it together without taking the time to sit down and plan it out better...maybe he has more important things to do, but I doubt it... Your only point about Louisville being the midpoint of 4A is the only thing you pointed to regarding the Louisville school's. Still nothing there to really respond to unless you want me to sit down and spend the next day or so figuring out a new alignment proposal...

The only thing I saw in your post which I agreed with was the fact that some of his districts were not geographically well thought out. Other than that, you posted no solid points. As an example, here are three of the points you made in your reply to TBF... and... and... These are not exactly what I would call "reasons" and therefore do not require a response...

I don't care if Louisville is split or not, my whole point is how the folks in Louisville, such as yourself, have the attitude that your city/district is untouchable because it's "Louisville" and the center of the state in all things good. Lose the arrogant attitude and more folks would come around to your side of the coin. As I said, being from the Ashland area and a supporter of a 2A team, I could care less if Louisville broke off from Kentucky and floated over to Indiana. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar...unfortunately some of the Louisville posters seem to be fresh out of honey... And by the way...if you don't think the Louisville school's were originally split up to garner higher attendance at the championship game (meaning bigger gate for the KHSAA coffers) I believe you are delusional. Everything is about money, that's just the way the world works...:thumb:

And I live in the far eastern part of the state and support a 2A team. As far as politics deciding what district a team plays in, in 2A, Powell and Estill County both lobbied to be moved out of Breathitt County's district. The KHSAA obliged their request and placed them into Russell's district (region 3, district 6) giving the district 8 teams. Region 3 district 5 has 5 teams. How is this balanced especially considering Powell and Estill are both about as close to the NKY district as they are to Russell's? Why not bump one or both into that district to balance out the numbers? This is but one example where the KHSAA nasn't exactly used good logic, IMO. As for the Louisville schools being split, that all comes down to money for the KHSAA, end of story on that topic.

Here's your main point and it seems to me your argument is to keep Louisville the same as it is....this would continue to mean the Louisville districts were split to keep them away from each other until the finals. Irregardless of your comments regarding my post, this is what I (and I'd bet most others outside of the Louisville contingent) took from your point. Split the schools so each region has 13-14 teams, each district 6-7 teams. Keep district opponents as geographically close to each other as possible to reduce travel expenses and don't play politics with it (which is what happens now). Play your first two rounds intra-district if you want to continue the cost-saving. After that, do a blind draw and involve all teams but then have the games played at a neutral site somewhere inbetween the two teams involved. It doesn't have to be a college, just a suitable high school stadium would suffice.

And, IMO, most of them center on Louisville being the center of the Kentucky high school football universe...

I believe you are correct there Woody...not sure how this idiotic plan will shape up, but it will certainly be different. I'm not opposed to changing the playoff system, I just feel there should have been a little less secrecy on the part of the KHSAA. I mena, no one seems to have had a clue this was coming. Maybe if they had gotten some input from their member schools and the coaches, there would be much less confusion and uproar than what they have managed to incite.

Both TJ and McPeek played at Russell under McGlone. Both are from Russell in Greenup County...:thumb:
