I did a dance when I heard Dickie call the game winning TD for the Eagles...sorry if you don't like that, but as an old school Devil, it's always a pleasure to see Ashland lose. Even better when the Devils are still playing...:fire:

Ummmmm....no...Corbin will not hang that many on the Devils. The most anyone has scored all year on the defense was 24 and it took Ashland 3 OT's to get that. Not saying the Redhounds won't win (although I don't think they will) but they won't score 31...:thumb:

Ahhh...the ambience of hallowed Putnam Stadium...the water shooting up, out of the locker room drains as the floor becomes immersed by God only know what quality of water...the locker room entrance flooded to the point of being useless as a portal in or out. Yes, now I see why the Ashland faithful speak with such reverance of the place...

Besides, it's raining much more today than it did that Friday back in August when Putnam was deemed to be too wet to play the varsity game...

Just wondering since I know Ashland will be hosting a home playoff game next week and, by looking at the radar, this looks like it will be more than a "little rain"...as a matter of fact, looking out the window, it's pouring down now.

Looking at this link, the KHSAA really needs to rethink their plan and come up with something more equitable such as neutral site games for rounds 3 & 4. I know Ohio does this and West Virginia has a playoff set up that would work here for selecting sites, but something really should change.

If you honestly think any host team doesn't cherry pick the perceived easiest route to the finals, you are only fooling yourself.

If Coach McGlone wanted to, he could have scored over 100 points more than once this season (not saying that was the case Friday night). He generally begins liberal substitutions early in the second half and many times, early in the second quarter. The freshmen team has gotten several snaps in varsity action this year and the liberal use of subs and backups is one reason why the program rarely has to 'rebuild' but instead just keeps chugging along picking up 7-10 wins every year and making the customary late run in the playoffs.

What's really funny is your insinuation that O-Cath was the better team. Yes, O-Cath did have success running the ball that day because the defense was dropping 8 and covering the pass first. I always thought it was funny...right up there with Marv Levy being credited for the innovative no huddle offense when Sam Wyche had Boomer running it well before the Bills did. As a matter of fact, Marv complained to the league office prior to the 1988 AFC title game that it gave the offense an unfair advantage. Funny how that happens...one person develops something and another person takes credit for it...

I honestly don't see Russell making it to Louisville this season. The team seems to be lacking in the leadership area. Too many players seem to be focused on things besides football such as girlfriends, partys, etc. Also, several seem to have a poor attitude about what their job is every week. Instead of focusing on getting better as individual players and as a team each week in preparation for a playoff run, some seem to be only interested in that week's opponent and being good enough to beat them. No disrespect to the remaining teams on the schedule, but there isn't much in the way of competition. This year's team certainly doesn't seem to have the determination of the 2005 team. Hopefully, they can get their act together, but I doubt it.

I prefer the Red Ramblers moniker...just don't shorten it to Rams... Maybe a better mascot would be something with a railroad theme due to the shared history of the communities and continued ties to the industry. And whoever said they would field some pretty tough football teams isn't kidding...not only football, but most every sport going.
